Gold score as an indicator of a good raid target...

I've been pillaging Amn (Wesiios[46:11]) who has around 371,000 gold score and no military. Rich pickings I assume, since he's miles better than anyone else I've been raiding. I get about 450 gold and trace elements per raid.

Is this good? Should I keep looking? Some of you talk about getting HUGE sums, and I'm wondering what kind of victim I should look for.

If what your getting is worth more than your putting out to get it then your good.

I had one of those early on. I was getting about 600 gold plus some resources per pillage. It paid for the bulk of my first colony.

How many resources are you getting?

Re: Gold score as an indicator of a good raid target...

The formula for gold is:
townlevel*(townlevel-1)/100= %gold looted

So a level 10 town with 100k gold will give:
10 * (10-1)/100 = 10(9)/100 = 0.9% or 900 gold

Level 12 town with 1,000,000 gold will give:
12 * (12-1)/100 = 12(11)/100 = 1.32% or 13,200 gold

Basically you're not going to make yourself rich doing pillages.

Resources are loaded at what I believe is a ratio of 2:1:1:1:1 (wood:marble:wine:crystal:sulfur) of goods with the maximum taken being worth 20 minutes of loading at a trade port.

Level 1 Trade Port (10 per minute) means 200 resources
Level 2 Trade Port (30 per minute) means 600 resources
Level 3 Trade Port (58 per minute) means 1160 resources
etc etc etc

SO pillage targets should be large cities, with lots of gold and resources, no/low wall, no/low military presence, and low warehouses.

I'd say that if he isn't building a military and you get at least 2 shiploads of loot each time, you may as well keep pillaging him!

However, I do think that getting resources is better than straight gold since a single resource can be sold for at least 10-20 gold each. Even wood is good pillage since you can usually sell it for at least 10-15 gold.
