Re: Ikariam
Re-registered back on Alpha. I still don't really know what to do here, I was just building stuff, and setting up workers to get wood.

What is the best way to start our your workers for the wood resources? At first, I started with 5, but then moved to 15, it seems like a good balance between getting resources, and still earning a few coins.|TG-12th|Undead

Re: Ikariam
As you're building your town initially, you don't need to worry about coin as much as you need the resources. I'd put as much as I could into wood and research without putting yourself in the hole. First building I make is an academy and then research the Economic tree up to Wealth. That'll give you the ability to harvest your secondary resource on the island.

Re: Ikariam
Yep, I did however research 'Well Digging' which gives a big boost to pop (2 more citizen growth about i believe) so it gave me a good boost.
After that, i did Wealth, then Expansion (dunno if it was good to do this because it costs tons of resources to build another colony) and now I'm doing the wine press, to boost my population growth again.
Remember to keep upgrading your town hall, or else your population cap will be maxed overnight, or close to, and you need all the citizens you can get!
As for the balancing, overnight i would usually put it high (around -10 to -15 gold income) because i would receive more citizens, thus evening it out overnight. Also as Atomic said coins are not of much use in the beginning.
And now I'm about to raid an inactive, hopefully i get some good resources!

Re: Ikariam
So there is no safety from being raided at first?

Re: Ikariam
Well, i guess no. But it is still a pretty new server. Maybe you should get a small group of slingers.

Re: Ikariam
So I have 3 researchers, working on "Pulley" at the moment. I hired 30 workers to gather wood, which gives around 30+ a hour, and still pulling in around 73 coin's as well. Currently have 5 slingers, and two more in the works. I'm not sure how many I should have at start though. Game really takes quite a bit of time to do stuff, which is actually nice.
I created a TS channel, too.|TG-12th|Undead

Re: Ikariam
If i were you, i would always go for max researchers. They are essential to the growth of your colonies. And with a 73 gold income, which you do not need at the moment, is high enough to support that of having max researchers.
30 Lumbermen are always good, your town will always need that, and high supplies of it.

Posting this for Atomic. This person is on the same island as me. I can't tell what he took from me though.
*edit, now I see. I guess he killed all my slingers, as I have 0 again, I had 5 or 6 before.|TG-12th|Undead

Re: Ikariam
Yuck...he sent Phalanx over to do the job. They're pretty much the City Defenders...which means he doesn't have much of an offensive army, but it'd be hard to counter-attack him against that many phalanx without using war machines.
