BTW ooo btw I found the game cause I was logging off from TS last night after a round of PoE2 and saw undead in TS channel for Ikariam and thought I would check it out. I ended playing till 2am last night.

Cat's switching up his strategy a little, all of the first research levels all take about 2 hours to complete (at my current research level) and the third level takes about 17 hours, so during the day I'm going to get all of these two hour research projects done and then let them research all night on the higher level projects. and every half hour or so I'm upgrading my buildings as materials allow.

Any thoughts on the best way to develop the military presence? I've got one soldier right now, but he costs me 8 gold per hour and I don't want too many, plus he has a whopping arsenal of a slingshot

I suggest just building a wall and one or two slingers max right now. Unless you are going to go pillage people, military is unnecessary. On that note, it takes at least 5 slingers to beat a town with no defense, so don't send less than that or you will waste your time and slingers.

Going to take me roughly 2 and half days before I can build an embassy. I need to research expansion, espionage, and then foreign cultures. Maybe less when I upgrade my lab and max out my scientist.

I still have 9+ hours before I finish researching Foreign Cultures, this is with 28 Scientist. If I could get 205 Crystals, I could upgrade, sooner.
