It happens, most of time you'll break even or better. I've been lucky for the past couple of raids.

Even small raids can pay off. Theres a guy on my island who has a level 3 town. He's been inactive and active on and off since i started playing. He has 0 workers at the quarry and 0 in the lumberyard. So everything he has goes straight to cash. He has 0 defense. I've been sending a 20 single-slinger pillage runs on his town. I'm getting no resources from it, but my gold is going up by heaps. One round trip takes roughly 50 minutes for all 20 slingers. Expenditures are 30 per slinger per trip. So I spend 600 gold to send all 20. However, every trip grosses me 97 gold per slinger. So do the math:
Gross profit: 97
Expenditure: 30
Net profit: 67
x20=1340 gold per hour.
The guy has a gold score of 146920.
I figure even if I only get 10 or 15 good trips out of it, i make 10-15k and lose NOTHING. Best case scenario: I do this for a week straight and make myself 100k and buy out local markets for all the goods I'll need for a few weeks.

Just have them available, they will automatically be used once you win the battle.

I've been wondering that. Up until now I've been sending waves to chain pillage towns w/ no military. I click pillage, select 2 slingers (in case they have a wall that might kill 1), and hit send. Then repeat that 5 times... this way I get 6 ships worth of stuff all at the same time.

I send 1 ship with enough slingers to take out a small force( about 5) and see what happens. If there is no defense and you win, your ships automatically go from your home port to the pillaged town. I usually make sure I have at least 3, I try for 4 ships waiting. I just pillaged a guy, sent 3 slingers on 1 ship. I loked up and all my ships where there(4) except the one coming back from a trade. I got 1156 wood and 7 coin....lol, gave my guys something to do.

I know it is at least per player. What I mean is this, say that Player A has cities 1, 2, and 3. Can I pillage city 1 six times and city 2 six times and also city 3 six times in one day for a total of 18 pillages. Or are we only allowed to pillage a total of six times per player a day?

From the rules:

It is not allowed to attack any given city owned by a player over 6 times in a single 24 hours period.

so 6 per city, not the player. So if he had 3 cities within reach. 18 attacks per day

My understanding anyway, i could be (and probably am) wrong

scratch that...just got welcomed by ck_hoangan who is an Ally with HoH (dont know if that is a player or alliance). 4 slingers + level 2 wall apparently have nothing on 4 archers.

Hey Mach, I know you've had your "pillage then burn" quote in your sig for a while now but it becomes very appropriate with this game.
