Maybe that's why I'm not getting any loot, my army is following my "revised" 8th motto of "burn then pillage"

Re: How to pillage like a man and how to protect yourself.
I'm a bit confused. I sent three slingers to an inactive level 1 town on my island. The Military advisor had a combat report which stated the victor to be the inactive town. The town has no wall and no army. How did I lose?

Yeah, I'd like to know more about how battles are actually worked out so that I know how many troops to secure a 100% (or close to) victory. The FAQ is a bit vague to help you work out what the odds are for you in battle. I started a thread on the official Ikariam forums about this, but haven't seen anything helpful yet. I'll let you know if anything more detailed comes up, I kind of doubt it though.

Thanks, at least I know now that my fledgling army weren't the only ones that couldn't figure out what to do when let out of their own town!

Grimm, they may have had an army. the combat report should say what happened. I have a post about how I handled a battle with a high level town.

not going to get much gold then. W6 made a post somewhere about the amount of gold you can receive from each city.

Re: How to pillage like a man and how to protect yourself.
In other news. I am flexing my heightened military muscle for the first time. That jackass that pillaged me on my original city has gone inactive so I figured it would be a perfect time to strike.
Sent 20 swordsmen, 20 phalanx, 6 archers and 2 battering rams at him.
It says the battle is still in progress, but I've only lost 2 swordsmen, 2 archers and one of my rams.
He only had 15 units stationed in town and has already lost 9.
BWAHAHAHAHA
EDIT: I lost 1 phalanx in the next round. He was left with 4 units. Plundered 1500 gold, 1300 wood, 200 marble, 450 sulfur. hehehe.

Re: How to pillage like a man and how to protect yourself.
Why does my blockade option not show up when I want to attack? And since its not there i attack with ground forces to only have them turn back around. This has happened a couple of times to different cities. I wanted to send 6 ships to blockade and rape what was left of the town. In stead a have a large war bill with nothing but seasick soldiers to show for it. What is going on and what do i need to do to have my happy finish?

Re: How to pillage like a man and how to protect yourself.
Blockades don't seem to be available against inactive towns. I never get a blockade option with inactives.

Re: How to pillage like a man and how to protect yourself.
Besides colonizing which wouldn't be cost effective I don't think people from off the island can get to them.
