Re: Question about Taverns
Every level of upgrade allows you to use more wine per hour...and eventually you will need too. At first I believe it uses 3 per hour...then 8...then 11. The issue arises when you either run out of wine or your bonus to pop growth degrades back down to 0...and it will ALWAYS degrade. Which is why you always need to supply more and more wine to meet the growth in population.
I ran out of wine once and my people went from pleased to angry as soon as the wine stopped coming. When they're angry, you start losing population. It's not cool! Keep the drunk and happy.

Re: Question about Taverns
There's really not much choice, without one, your people will go from pleased to angry anyhow regardless of population growth. The only alternative is a museum, but that involves cultural exchange treaties.

Re: Question about Taverns
It will be 3, 5, 8, 11, ? wine per hour which pleases 80, 160, 240, 320 citizens at level 1-4 respectively.

Re: Question about Taverns
Is there any advantage to building your tavern while the citizens are still happy? I did this and it didn't make them any more happy so maybe I am wasting wine at this point.

Re: Question about Taverns
Yes, the way you get even more citizens in your town per hour, is to have a taven that supports more wine to citizens, than your town capacity. I figured that out last night, there is one step higher than "happy" and its euphoric and its a green smiley face. I jumped to almost 7 per hour after that.

Re: Question about Taverns
Wow, I finally got my tavern up to full capacity for my village size (after some generous trading terms with Ednos and Catman who both floated me the marble) and HOLY CRAP!!!
They are screwing like jack rabbits now. I would highly suggest this to anyone with wine as your luxury item because the hourly rate of wine consuption is HUGELY outwayed by the population growth since more population means more citizens(gold) and more vineyard workers(wine).
Anywho, just thought I would scream that little tip from the mountain tops for a few minutes. Now it's back to waiting for my pillaging parties to return...LOL!!!

Re: Question about Taverns
Yeah, and one guy on my island who was inactive for a few days just became active again. Whoops...I didn't know that could happen. So now he is gonna get a status report from the local townspeople about how waves and waves of armies from Santeria kept marching over, raping and pillaging at will. LOL!!! He's bound to be pissed.

Re: Question about Taverns
Happens. I already had a victim of mine (not inactive) threaten rape. I told him to bring it.
