Re: expansion, colonization

is it expensive to upkeep/build other colonies? I am level 3 city now, and would like to have a city on a marble island.

Also there is a marble island right next to me, also there is one 3 away. Should I go for the 3 because it expands my trades area? Is this more expensive to do?

Thanks

Re: expansion, colonization

3 away isnt too bad. Would take just over an hour to ship stuff there and back I believe. 1 away is like 40 mins.

No extra costs associated that I'm aware of.

Re: expansion, colonization

I found that sending a colony off to the middle of no where was great, Kulmar, Toasty, Toypoodle and I all have sent our colonies to be with each other and once they have grown slightly we will all be able to support each other and rule the little formation of islands that the TGA allliance is throwing their wieght around it. There is still space for others to join us around 10:1, 10:2, 11:1, 11:2 WOOT.

Hmm you guys are really far away and not near anyone else, I'll send my 3rd colony out there but I'd like my second to be closer to me...and other people. Which I am sure is more dangerous but makes things more interesting.

Re: expansion, colonization

Your third colony will cost you about 6,500 wood and 550 marble.

Re: expansion, colonization

Hmmm well are you guys going pillaging and such over there? It seems like it would be rather expensive with no one around.

My 3 colonies are in the 60-70:70-80 area, where there are a number of other TG guys.

Make sure that you put your colonies in the main thread Mach. They are not on Catmans map.

The second palace does nothing for you. But it also does not destroy the first palace.

Having a second palace would allow you to transfer your capital quickly if needed, but I don't know why you would need to do that.

Re: expansion, colonization

From what I gathered, your capital can never be displaced by another player. I haven't seen the option to disband a colony belonging to someone else, though, so it's possible that all installations of your empire are permanent fixtures of their respective islands.

Re: expansion, colonization

Should you build an embassy on each colony you found or do you only need one in the capital?

Diplomatic points do accrue per embassy, so I think it is a good idea.
