expansion, colonization
Is it worth building a colony somewhere further away from your capitol, for the sake of being closer to others.
Example KillDaddy is 18 hours away from me, if I build a colony closer to him, would that help reducing shipping times?

Re: expansion, colonization
not really, it would still take the 18 hours to ship it back to your capitol.
it would make it easier for us to do business, as I wouldnt have to have ships out that long, but the benefits for you would be negligible.
The only way around that would be to build your colony up pretty well and only send shipments from it to your capitol every few days. Would require you to have a good defense set up in your colony. In effect, you are turning it into a massive warehouse for the capitol.Contact Me ~ CoD Contact an Admin Forum ~ CoD Rules & SOPs

Re: expansion, colonization
yeah, they would arrive at your colony pretty quickly, then you'd have to turn around and send em the 18 hours from your colony to your capitol.

Re: expansion, colonization
Your colonies do not share resources. You have to send trade ships to resupply.

Re: expansion, colonization
colonies run the same as the capitol pretty much. like ikonic said, the resources aren't shared. so if you have a colony on a wine island and need a lot of wine in your capitol, you just ship it to yourself rather than buying or trading for it elsewhere. works in reverse too. colony needs something the capitol has a lot of? ship it out to the colony. You're only out the time to send it and get the ships back.

Re: expansion, colonization
also anyone know the ratio? how much each time = to in minutes of travel for trade ships? I'm thinking of colonizing island on 78:57, which is not far from current 82:60.
thank you

You could move your capital to the new place...
It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9/NIV
