Trading Questions
Hey guys, I just got into this game yesterday so I'm still been curious on a few things. Mostly trading though. So I just recently built my trading post and because I haven't researched enough yet I can only trade within the few islands close to me. So in the trading post I found a guy I wanted to trade with so I clicked the trade icon at the end of the info. I set the amount he asked for and now my ship has loaded it and is off. Does he know that I've excepted his offer and that my ship is coming? If so how does he pay me, as he's paying me gold for my resource. Does it come back on my own ship on return? I'm just curious on the whole step. I don't want to get ripped off.

Re: Trading Questions
If you do a trade through the Trading Post, it is all automated unless you tell your ship to withdraw.
The trades you need to watch out for are the ones that ask for other goods (Marble for Wine), since that requires you to manually "Transport Goods" to him. However, if they do not pay you back in 2 days you can report them to GameOps.-F-

Re: Trading Questions
undead showed me that you can click on a distant island, pick a city and then "transport goods" - this will show you how long it is to get to them... then just cancel out. looks like about 40 minutes for 1 island?

Re: Trading Questions
so when they say distance and have the number two you just multiply it by 40 so a distance of 2 takes 80 minutes? Or 1 hr 20 mins?
(The two is taken from the trading post when they put the distance of each offer)

Re: Trading Questions
I'm trying to do a manual trade with a guy who is three tiles away outside of our little group of islands. When I click on his town the only icon that shows up is Diplomacy. The others; "transport goods" "pillage", etc. aren't there.
Is there a range restriction based on my trade post level or something?New to TG? Start here!

Re: Trading Questions
I do believe the manual transport goods range is determined by your trading post.

Re: Trading Questions
Manual is affected by Expansion. Get that researched and you should be good

Re: Trading Questions
You can also find out the time it takes when you click on the trade button in the trading post. Also on a side note, dang why are people selling wood for the same price or more then luxury items. This market is insane.

Re: Trading Questions
Scarity of the resource, and the degree of usefulness. Just about EVERYTHING requires wood, from upgrading your lumber mills and mines/vineyard, to training troops and construction.
In my area, average prices seem to be about:
lumber 20
wine 20
marble 50+ (when you can find it)
Crystal 40
Sulpher 20 (though this is going up, may have something to do with my war mongering ways...)
Hope this helps.Farkarian
