Addiction to Ikariam!
I have not been this obsessed with a game since Civilization and becoming jaded from playing all the Civ sequels and countless other video game titles.
I registered 4 days ago and have spent about 16-20 hours per day playing this...just as well I've been 'sick'.
I thought these web-browser games were play a little here and there for a few minutes and go away and do something else, but if I'm not waiting for a building to finish, cruising forums for tips, or waiting for a cargo ship to arrive, I'm eyeing up cities on neighboring islands for easy pillaging or a dozen other things to do.
Last night I woke up every 2-3 hours to see how my new colony was doing and to message my suppliers for trade deals.
Ikariam is like crack cocaine with nicotine centers!
Stay away if you treasure your sanity! Kidding aside, I'm going to have to cut-down or my wife is going to get suspicious about my late-nighters.

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
I am having a blast too! I havent even pillaged ONE city yet but now gearing up to do so. I have 3 colonies and my armies are getting stronger and stronger by the minute.. I am wondering what to do first...
After visiting our new friends from Fark.. I have looked at a couple of other browser games.. Tribalwars.net is very similar to Ikariam and pretty fun. Lunar Wars is ok... and they list a couple of others on their site but havent checked them out yet..
My wife is actually kind of liking that I am playing them... since the overhead is low on these games.. it allows me to play these on my laptop while she is doing stuff on my high powered desktop..SWTOR - Ashenhart - Sith Inquisitor

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
Yeah, I spend a good amount of my downtime at work on this stupid game.
(Obviously, I've had a lot of that lately...) It's pretty addictive. Arun and I will sit in the office and go, "Ooh, look what I did today! I have an embassy now!" You think it's bad when one person in the house plays--try this: he stayed up late last night so he could build me a warehouse for my colony, which someone had attempted to pillage earlier that night.

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
But seriously folks....
Yes, this game is really good. And it is still beta!
On the .org server we got some of the new interface enhancements. They look nice but I am disappointed. You can no longer go to the mill or mine from the town hall that I can see, you have to go to the island view first.
And the Ikarium Plus stuff is offered.
1,000 ambrosia is 79.99
400 ambrosia is 39.99
100 ambrosia is 19.99
Looks like each advisor cost 5 ambrosia for 7 days.
I really hope this doesn't kill the game.I’m not racists, I have republican friends. Radio show host.

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
you misunderstand...the advisers that are in game now are free and will always be free. They are adding extra advisers that do things like 25% production for an hour ect. Really I get most of my recourses by pillaging dumb people so I don't think it would even really help me. It is just really for said dumb people to buy...and then I can just go pillage them later. So really I kind of am looking forward to it being implemented

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
I never used the Town hall to get to my mills. Just built a habit of always going to island view, not sure why.

Re: Addiction to Ikariam!
im looking forward to piracy, the only reason lots of people are rich is due to safe passage for trade ships, once piracy is in it will a whole different game.
YOu would have to spend cash and sulfur to build escort for the trade ships, meaning sulfur goes up.
