Well after avoiding conflict for much of the game, I pursued a few small and easy pillages.
Feeling cocky and hafl drunk I spied out a town, KIT 67:83, and decided to see what I could do. I hope this information helps others.

First I sent a spy, checked the warehouse and port level and waited:

Wood - 6512
Wine - 917
Marble - 3862
Crystal - 2520
Sulphur - 786

Port level was 5!

Garrision report -

5 Phalanx
1 Ballista

The I checked the online status with my spy............"player not online".

So it begins, I send a Ram and a Balist to blockade the town. I win the Sea battle and blockade the town.

Now I have sent 10 Slingers and 7 Swordsmen to fight his army, they will arrive shortly after the sea battle begins, Should I have lost that battle I would have recalled my armies.

Before my armies arrive, the town has a level three wall, I send a total of 4 spies to open the gates.

After three rounds of battle, my army was victorious. I had sent one ship and after winning the battle, the other 6 have joined them.

I pillaged:

913 wood
29 wine
388 marble
383 crystal
83 sulphur

This town is now defenseless. But has a level 9 warehouse.

Great experience and lessons learned. Now I must recall my spies.

Wow...nice! I've managed to get by without much pillaging, especially since there isn't much sulfur in the area and I can't build much of a military force yet.

It was a good experience, but costly.....only had two survivors from my forces.....lol
