Improve reasearch

Ok, I just experimented with this and it works. Instead of increasing the level of your Academy constantly in your capital, once you have a colony build one there. The resources are much less to get the academy going and when you employ the scientists they help towards achieving the current goal.

I just made a level 1 academy on my colony and it took my research time for Greek Fire from over 1 day down to 21 hours. Resources only need wood, going for level 2 academy now on my colony.

You can essential 1/2 your research time and save resources by building a second academy.

That is a good idea. I have academies in all of my colonies going. All lvl 6, but it stills takes a while to research the upper portions of the trees.

yeah I have three research academies all at level 9 and glass is still another 1 1/2 days away

Um...that's kinda simple math really.

If you have twice the number of academies you'll receive twice the number of research points. Double the research points will halve your research time.

I have two level 8 academies (yay crystal island!) and I'm working on the wood to get a third colony set up on a wine island.

Well at this point I"m only 12 1/2 hours away, I'm going to go ahead and finish it and I'll report back once I find out.

I think they may have changed glass.

According to the features of 0.2.0 glass can now be used to finish research with a cost depending on how much progress has already been made. That might mean they exponentially increased the value at a slope so that you can finish off new tech research quickly after it reaches a certain point. Seems like the 1:1 exchange is still in place to speed up research, but what you covert to RP isn't deducted from the 'quick buy' option.

Cat's switching from glass and will research later. with the 0.2 patch apparently you have to have all the crystal saved to finish a research project as opposed to buying it down over time/as you have crystal.

ok if this is 100% true, crystal has just become the most desired commodity

I keep pumping out those scientist, I'm far enough in the research, and only a hour may come off with each upgrade. One level 10, one level 9, and a level 6 in about an hour.
