this is yet another reason why I love the update to 0.2.0 on the .org servers. all these brand new features and 0 bugfixes for the existing ones.

Of course it doesn't work!

*switches glass research to something else*

Helping hands works, but at a rate of 1:4 currently so people are on the fence if its worth it.

For every 4 citizens you 'overload' you get the production of 1 additional worker. Its also capped somewhere like 1/2 of the max workers extra. So if you can send 100 workers for 50 marble then with helping hands you can send 150 for 56.25 marble per hour.

On Glass:

Apparently according to the Ikariam boards it does work and it is in game. It allows you to convert glass to research at a rate of 1:1. That makes glass the most important resource for the mid/end game since you can use it to substantially boost your research rate. A level 6 crystal mine (sans Athena) will produce enough crystal to award research points equal to an additional level 9 academy (60 per hour).

Ran numbers and edited post. 50% of max workers for 12.5% increase in production.

Glass did work until .2. But with the way it's set up now, the only reason to get crystals is to build up your academies. You can speed up research with glass still in an all or nothing donation system, but not like the old way where you could dump in 5 crystal here or 50 there.

QFT

The more I play .2, the less I like this game.

Re: "glass" science research, is it worth it?

Unfortunately Glass is a prerequisite to several other researches such as Gunpowder, so if you choose to research them you will be forced to research Glass as well.

Though I must point out that the crystal required to complete certain types of research is unrealistic, for example, nearly 100k crystal is required just to complete Gunpowder -_-
