Possible problems from -HL- Alliance
Greetings all,
As part of my regular military activities, I was involved today in a blockade and subsequent land action at [43:77], town name Genpai. My blockade netted a shipment of 1800 crystal en route to Genpai and passed it over to my capitol for proper disposal. My land action concluded and was a rather nice success, but the sender of the shipment of crystal had this message for me:
"Your fleet just intercepted my crystal on route to astianax at Genpei. How annoying. Unforunately, I'm too far away to actually come get my stuff back right now. But, what I can promise is that my alliance will not be signing any future agreements with your alliance. I have the authority to say this because I happen to be the Leader-Diplomat of the Hermes League. We may be few in number but our military is strong, including several members with General scores of 100,000 or higher (like myself). We have also just added the military support of the White Lotus Society (ranked number 12 in the world) to our list of allies. I intend to keep adding to our list of allies, so that someday we will have nothing to fear from aggressive alliances such as yours. And I hope that someday I will find a way to intercept some of your goods en route as well. Congratulations. You have won my crystal and made another enemy today."
The sender's name is Thalia, and her capitol of Pinot Noir is located at [77:39]. This was my response:
Greetings.
As a matter of fact, my movement was not made on behalf of my alliance but on behalf of myself. I had not anticipated netting any shipments in my maneuver - that your trade fleet got caught in the crossfire was most unfortunate. My military action is concluding and I am sending you your shipment back as a show of good faith on my part.
I would advise you, in the future, to ask more questions before you begin making threats towards alliances - THAT is the sure way to win you more enemies than friends in this game.
Regards,
Vortex
I am presently returning the shipment of crystal to her, as promised, as a sign of goodwill. However I wished to make everyone in TGA aware of this in the event that -HL- decides to stir up any action.

You're a better man than most Vortex I commend you on your diplomacy. Can we get this thread moved to the TGA alliance private forum, please?

Re: Possible problems from -HL- Alliance
An update. I received this response:
"Thanks for the advice and for returning my stuff. I have never had my goods intercepted before and I think I overreacted. So, I apologize for offending you. Your gracious response to my message impressed me very much. Good day."
So things seem to have been settled through diplomatic channels. I would keep an eye out just in case there is more here than meets the eye.

Re: Possible problems from -HL- Alliance
Nice Vortex, I just had this happen to me only I was the person who's trade shipment was intercepted. It is very annoying indeed and very easy to get pissed about. Once you look at it from the other persons perspective though you realize that it was unintentional and it's hard to be mad when the person is willing to send your stuff back to you. I myself ended up really liking the guy who got my shipment and let him have most of it because it really wasn't anything overly valuable or important and he was being so nice about it. Little secret is that when I told the guy who the shipment was originally from (the guy I purchased from in the trading post) he sent me the goods again plus more for my trouble. Hah!!! In the end I really made out like a bandit.

Nice.
That's why I so far have had no military activity, for fear of offending someone from another large alliance.

Re: Possible problems from -HL- Alliance
I've only attacked a couple of people, and they were inactive. (not on for over a week).
I'm a vulture. :-D
