Uh-Oh revenge?
So the last week I've been pillaging a lot of my nieghbors, especially the inactive ones. I've been keeping tabs of how long they've been inactive and started going for level 10-18. Well, I've was able to secure almost 25,000 gold in pillaging plus out of 9 raids, almost 6000 wood, 1000 marble, and about 1500 sulfer. Well two of the guys are no longer inactive, I did manage to wipe out their armies, but are they going to know who has been pillaging them?
I have 8 swordsmen and 8 phalanx and a level 4 town wall, I just fought off one of the level five guys, but now I am getting attacked by people overseas. Is there any other option besides trying to defend myself?

Re: Uh-Oh revenge?
Yes they will know who pillaged them by the combat reports. Maybe i've been lucky but I haven't had an inactive who came back attack me in revenge. Probably due to the fact that inactives are free game and everyone within range pillages them.
If your being attacked overseas your best bet is to build a couple ships to defend your harbor. This will usually discourage most off island pillagers who don't have a grudge against you. They would have to blockade you before attacking.
You can always try diplomacy for your attackers. Just remember to be nice and use proper grammer and sentences as this can provoke an attack as well.

Thanks, it looks like only one of the guys is on his way to attack me. I'm building up my military so I can raid as many people as I can at once! Right now I am just going to play it safe and keep working on my defense!

Re: Uh-Oh revenge?
If he is attacking overseas with just troop ships build a ram ship quick and it will send his troops home without a fight. That will either buy you more time to build a defense or deter him completely.
Oh and try to keep your town wall equal to or higher than your town hall whenever possible.

Great advice that is overlooked by many. If you have a ship out in the harbor then someone will have to go to the expense of sending a blockade. Also, ship travel takes much longer than trade/pillager travel and gives you more time notice of a pending attack.

Re: Uh-Oh revenge?
choices, choices...
I'd send him a message explaining that you thought he'd quit the game so you pillaged but you don't want a war with him. Maybe offer to send him back what you took when you can. (make sure you follow through if you tell him that though. lol)
or...
Tell him how shiny the stuff you took is and explain to him that what he lost was nothing compared to what he'll lose if he keeps up the revenge attacks. Then shame him for abandoning his poor people. If he's smart he'll let it go and do what's best for his town.
or...
Ignore him and he'll go away eventually. hehe
