    Updating Docks???

    I've been doing some transferring of large amounts of resources now which is my first time (just did 4 shipments of 6k+ amount of certain quality resources) and the time it takes loading and unloading is getting to be annoying.. I'm also about to up the number of ships I have defending the port (right now at my main its 5 ballista...)

    So main questions are: Is levelling up port a good idea? I've never been attacked once in entire time and i've always been doing the best out of the nearest 3 islands for town lvls and donating.

    Does it matter how many different kinds of ships you have or is it the latest one you got is going to be the best?

    (So its not like Flame>Ballista Ballista>Ram Ram>Flame type of stuff)

    And can people see what level your port is or anything like that? (I'm gonna try and get all my colonies to have atleast 7 preferably 10 spies just on def. soon).

    If upgrading the port the consensus is don't go higher than 3 or 4. Higher than that makes you a very juicy target. Also you can demolish your port if you are being attacked to keep them from getting away with much.

    The ships you have defending should be the best ships you have available. Ikariam doesn't have a rock, paper, scissors system.

    Definately increase the number of ships you have defending!

    Since you say your city is the best in the area, based on some of our pillagers you are making yourself a target. Being the biggest kid on the block can sometimes make others want to knock you down.

    Once a spy gets into your city they can see your city view. With that you can see every building along with levels even ongoing construction. So yes they can see your port level.

    Spys on defense help make it more difficult for enemies to get spys into your city and run missions to find out what kind of goods and troops you have in town.
    Ikariam Wars = Talus - Sulfur, Talanium - Marble, Talopolis - Wine, Talusgrad - Crystal, Talusberg - Wine.

    For the Four who stood against many. You shall be remembered. {DK_Sparta vs Talus}

    Exactly! Well said! One thing I'd like to add is this...Unless you have a strong military 150k+ or a good reason to do so, build your infrastructure before your population. This way when you rise, you rise STRONG!

    I usually get all of my buildings built, upgrade the most important to my particular cause a few levels and then expand to a 5th level colony for the extra action point. After that I concentrate solely on infrastructure. When I'm ready to increase my population, I build my wall to a target level and then make a hard push with my colony level. They never even see me coming. =]

    Re: Updating Docks???

    Yea so far how I came to be the best I guess is just when starting out always upping my town level when it reached its max, that way you get more money, more resources... Thinking about making people happy and recruiting an army to start pillaging though so the town still grows as does the army

    Edit: and so the best ship you can get is the catapult? and nothing is better than this?

    Also do you need to create all the ships at all the different ports or can you have one master colony building ships and send them to your other colonies for defense?
