How long until Inactives are removed?

I am waiting for a spot to open on a marble island right next to me and a large number of it's inhabitants are inactive. About how long until they are purged? I've been pillaging a few of them, but they're only good for gold now and that's next to useless to me...

I think it takes something like a week, not sure though.
