I bought the "orange box" and only have CSS installed, so this means I can "gift" the HL2, right..?

I will try and figure out how to do that when I get home..

Only if you had HL2 before you bought the Orange Box.... Then, because of the fact that you would be essentially buyin the same game again, they gave you the option of gifting it away to someone else... but if you didnt already own it then you only have the one that you've bought.
