You're absolutely correct. I got the M4 and M16 mixed up. Point and area for the M16 is 550 and 800. With a junky milspec M16A4 I was able to plink an e-type silhouette at 700 meters (albeit not every time due to the usual windy conditions here at Ft. Carson .

Anyway, yeah... completely agree on the lethality that the game is portraying.

That said, I would like to vote for not messing around with this mod too much. I know I wasn't very good in the hour or two that I was on the server, but I really liked the way it felt. It seemed very realistic and also reminded me of Ghost Recon. The desire to not be shot at was great, and I think that's something that is missing in so many other games. In CS and BF, I hated the fact that everyone was willing to sprint across an open area that was being covered by an automatic weapon! You wouldn't do that in real life, but in most games you have so much health, or bullet hits do so little damage, that most of the time you can get away with getting shot a few times. Sure it's fun, but it's certainly not realistic. Getting killed with one shot from a hundred yards away is VERY realistic!

I completely agree with this, my issue lies with people who do use restraint or caution and try to effectively with teamwork move in an area to advance to the objective. I've noticed myself that i could just spray with some guns in a particular area from the hip and nail guys left and right. That's just not realistic. The support gun for instance is nothing like the support gun from DOD:S where if you attempt to fire it while standing, sitting and it's not stabilized with the bi-pod, you have nearly 0 chance of hitting anything. That's not the case here. All of the guns while shooting from the hip still seem to be dead accurate if someone has first lined up their iron site and then come out but not moved their mouse. This is something that needs to be addressed IMO.

I believe a large part of the issue lies with the hitbox's to be perfectly honest. There are some very weird occurrences going on.

The M4A1 is 500 meters for point targets and 600 meters for area targets.

I just realized that the link I gave needs a login and pass: manuals/chipin

Oh i forget to mention that your in a warzone, not at the shooting range! They are working on some of these game mechanic issues. I like the realism of the guns themselves just not the model and perspective mechanics.

i really think the support guns should act they way they do in DoD:S. i loved all the guns in DOD:S for that matter. I love the way they borrowed the bipod idea and use it effectively. This was something i was soooo hoping BF2 had. Oh well, at least someone got it right. However, im sure there are many a noob makin a laser dot in dry erase since theyre dead accurate one the first shot.
