Wish List, Bugs, Suggestions.

Lets use this thread to compile a list of suggestions, bugs, and other things we'd like to see in Insurgency. After a few weeks we can make a single organized post on the developers' forums.

I'll start:

1) A button push to show which players are in each squad and their weapon layout.

2) Give the server a setting like sv_SpawnProtection (Time In Seconds). This will let the server specify the length in time (if any) a player will be invincible after spawning.

3) When a player uses voice coms, give a visual indicator of who is speaking. Perhaps similar to CS:S with an icon above one's head.

4) Let the player open a map that gives an overview of the battlefield, including Objectives and Spawns. No player locations.

5) In the commander menu allow for labeled waypoints: "Defend Here", "Attack Here", "Regroup Here", and so forth. Allow the commander an easy way to delete waypoints.

Please, share your own. We can discuss the suggestions/bugs and when we have a quality list I'll make a post on the official forums.

I know one of the devs actually so I will just PM it to him.

In addition to your stuff.

6) Remove the RPG class. Until the day I see HUMVEEs and technicals driving around I don't want it.

7) Fix the lean feature. Let it lean out a bit more and allow us to move while leaning.

8) A nicer class selection screen would be nice.

9) A different gameplay mode. I am not really feeling this whole capture and defend or all out assault thing.

10) (Nitpicking) I would like to see all the US soldiers armed with M4s. Note by M4s I mean the one with the three round burst option and no full auto. Last I heard the US military has more or less adopted the M4 as it's main rifle. Also get rid of the shotguns for the engineer class. This isn't BF2 give him a rifle.

11) Perhaps offer even more weapons to the insurgents. AKMs, AK-74s, RPK-74s, etc. They are a rag tag force with a variety of weapons.

12) Weapon jams.

I assume the devs included the RPG for a reason. Perhaps in the future we will see objectives that require debris/barriers to be destroyed before moving on.

I think this will be up to the map-makers. From what I've read the Mod has a fairly sophisticated objective system. You can even tweak them from the client side, as Vulcan has already done.

If we come up with specific new objectives we can pitch those.

I think they made the RPG class to go along with the M203 the USMC gets. If they would add a rifle like an SKS or even a uzi to this class it would be made more useful. I agree with everything schwa added. Really nothing NEEDS to be added or changed, just some things that would make the game so much more better.

RPG is in because insurgents use RPGs. A lot. I've only played Rocketman once so I can't say with certainty, but I expect if used appropriately, RPG can be powerful. I don't mind the shotgun option, either, however they should be adapted as a lockpick as well as close-quarter assault weapon.

i just wish there were more "toys" so to speak. Most of the kits are basically a rifle and a knife and a nade if youre lucky. Im not talkin crazy stuff, but maybe flashbangs, claymores...just something more to differenciate the classes more than just the main rifle.

I'm starting to enjoy the RPG role. It can get you killed a lot trying to use it, but at the right time it can really break-up an attack. Adding an SKS to the load-out would be perfect.

Supposedly the SKS is already in the game, they just didn't have time to enable it.

In the Insurgency mod, the U.S. side is the U.S. Marines. The U.S. Marines are currently using the M16A4(What they use in the game already). The U.S. Army has adopted the M4A1. The M4A1 does not have a three-round burst fire mode. It has Semi and Full Auto. I agree with you about the shotguns but I think the Engineer/Sapper classes should be able to place a couple mines, just to make them a little useful.

Some minor clarification:

We're playing the U.S. Marines who still use the M16A4 (M16 with Picatinny rail system). It's entirely appropriate for the "grunts" to be using a regular M16 and the commander to be armed with an M4.

I think the M4A1 should be removed and the M4 should be added. Perhaps SF units or the like utilize the M4A1 (single-shot and auto modes), but we soldiers of the line units utilize the M4 carbine, which has single-shot and three-round burst.

Even so, I've never once considered switching to three-round bursts in the middle of a firefight. Current military doctrine really discourages full automatic fire. Even with M249s and M240Bs the gunners are taught to employ small, controlled bursts (unless they step it up from sustained to rapid or cyclic rates of fire).

As for the shotgun, its appropriate. The M1014 combat shotgun is an issued weapon in the Marine Corps (its basically a Benelli M4 Super 90). Don't slam it until you've laid waste with it (or the Insurgent version) in a close-quarters map.

Why does this always come up? It happens so rarely nowadays that it'd be a waste of time to put it in-game. AK-47s never jam, and the M4 jams so rarely that its practically a non-issue. More than anything its a double-feed from a farked-up magazine.

Let's just assume that these are good little Marines and good little Insurgents that do proper, thorough weapons maintenance, thus eliminating weapon jams. :P

Very much agree, it's too hard to know who is in which squad.

I'd also like to see a map similar to overheads on the loading screen.

I think the squad menu could be tailored to show the loadout in short form. Rf for rifleman, CO for commander, EN for sapper/engineer, MK for marksman/sniper etc. This would be easier in a temporary form till they create a more fluent and informational squad panel.

Question: Does anyone else find themselves jumping after moving from a crouch position to a standing postition when using space bar?

I have crouch button on toggle btw.

One thing id like to see is a longer name visual. I dont know how many times ive TKd people because i cant tell who it is. I see movement, i ussually end up shooting. Especially Sniper.
