Re: Almaden, Iraq
This map is a blood bath for the USMC. It seems to go the USMCs way when there is less then 6 players on the server, more then that ive never seen teh USMC win. Insurgence can pretty much keep the USMC pinned down just outside their spawn. But if you manage to get a few USMC up the Street across from A and lay down some heavy cover fire you might have a chance.
And in the off chance you do actually get A and B, C and D are even harder and more frusterating.

Re: Almaden, Iraq
Ive found the complete oposite, ive never lost as Marines on this map.
A: Take the far right buildings then cut across them to the mosque area and you gun all the Insurgents from behind. B: Crept down the far right building and into the upstairs of the of the Bravo building, while you have guys in the street keep the Insurgents busy. C: Easiest so far, rewind back to the Mosque area and then take a left in the mosque (you come out by the sand bags that the Insurgents sit in), once they are cleared you run across the road and into the building (the building is so easy to secure). D: Take the tunnel from Charlie all the way through to the far left side of the map, cross over the street (theres never any one there) and into the building behind Delta, craw through it and then lie prone in the door way dehind the sandbags to cap the last objective. I relise my explanations are very hard to understand so when i get time ill draw them on a map. |

Re: Almaden, Iraq
I can kind of follow you Disciple. You should however use North South East and West. The map is laid out NSEW.
So your saying to take Alpha you need a team moving the North side of the street clearing buildings and then holding the Mosque from the north side of the street firing South into the Mosque? If so this is the tactic I also like to use. I found one big problem with Marines on this game is they tend to try and shoot support guns as if it were counter strike from a crouch or standing position, this does not work. Hit the dirt put out the bipod(Mouse3 default) and lay down suppresion fire while the rest of the team moves into place. Even playing in pubs if you get a few support guys to do this those guns can hold off insurgents trying to move into position. For example the North side of the mosque(what appears to be the front the tiled hallway) has sandbags across from the ammo dump. If you set a support guy here crouched with bipod out on sandbags and ironsights up he can hold the mosque by himself. This works while securing Alpha and also holds while moving to Bravo. This map and all others are easy to take for marines who work as a group. Smoke grenades are absouletly necessary and 2 good commanders can take down insurgents with ease. //Niko |
