TG & TeamSpeak Noob

Hello all from a TacticalGamer and TeamSpeak Noob. Just d/l'd TeamSpeak, now going out to buy a headset. Read your basic tutorial on it and will configure accordingly. Then am REALLY looking forward to some tactical play. Am five-year US Army vet (72-77, counter-intelligence) and -- probably of equal relevance -- an avid recreational (and sometimes tournament) paintball player. So I understand how much even a squad-sized group working together can do on terrain with a lot of Rambos.

Have had JO since it came out, am also VET72 in games. Don't have the mouse reflexes of many younger players, but I'm sneaky and accurate.

I look forward to meeting and (when I figure it out) talking to everyone.

Re: TG & TeamSpeak Noob

Nice to have you here, Vet72! You'll find that many of the people here at TG don't have that 16 year old twitch reflex. Personally I can't compete on the twitch thing, but playing sneaky is something that I do pretty well too.

Let me know when you get that headset, I'll help you out with any configuration or setup to get you going!

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome. Since I didn't make it out to the store yet (darn clients keep wanting my time, what can I do?), any recommendations on headsets?

I got the Logitech Premium USB 300 headset for my birthday. Thanks Luna! It's pretty good for a USB headset, no problems yet at all. Before this I was just using a normal set of headphones and one of those cheap clip-on microphones attached to my shirt.

You're welcome!

I can hear his game through his headset while I'm in game with my own headset on. It seems to be a pretty nice one!

I have a set of zalman 3d headphones and they rock me so sweetly. I wear a headset mic around my neck like a necklace. Some day I'll have a trackIR with a little dot on my forehead and a pair of 3d glasses and I'll post I pic.

Welcome aboard! I think you'll like our community.

As for headphones, I really like my Koss R/65B headset. Great speakers and a good microphone for under $50.

Welcome aboard.
I find that JO plays great with a 5.1 speaker system. It's really nice to be able to hear someone behind you.
So I use a mic without earphones. My favorite is the Labtech LVA-7330 which is out of production. It originally cost like $20 but you can get it under $5 at many online shops. This is a boom mic you can wear around your neck or on your head. I bought several of them which should last a lifetime.

Re: TG & TeamSpeak Noob

If you're on a budget, my $15 Logitech headset works just fine. I don't get as good directional cues as I would with a 5.1 setup, but it works. I think it's the Internet Headset or the Web Headset. Something like that. At under $20, it'll do until I inherit a million dollars from some relative I don't know I have.
