Problems
Ok, I've really tried to give this game a chance, but the bugs are driving me insane. It's virtually unplayable for me and I can't understand how you guys put up with it. I'm wondering if maybe some of these problems are specific to me and I should try a reinstall of the demo. Here's what I can think of off the top of my head:
1. Vehicles disappear most of the time. When someone is in them I just see a body floating. 2. There is this wierd umbilical-like chord that is attached to all of my teammates, including myself. It kind of flashes in and out, but I will see all of the lines going out all the way across the map. 3. When I try to stand up, crouch or go prone, it takes 10-30 seconds to actually happen, at which point I am doing something completely different. So if I hit prone, 20 seconds later I go prone, except by then I'm trying to run somewhere. Then I'm stuck on the ground for 20 seconds until my stand up key takes effect. 4. My weapons will continually reload, so that I can't do anything. It will just play the reload animation over and over again while I try to switch weapons, fire my gun or do anything to get it to stop. 5. I don't think it's lag, but occassionally it will be like I really don't exist. I will fire at stuff and nothing will happen and no one fires back at me. I'll run right up to an enemy. This goes on for a long time and in the end I just have to exit the game and rejoin. And these are just the problems that dramatically effect my gameplay, making it difficult to do anything. I don't mind the small glitches, it's just very difficult to play when I can't fire my weapon, see the enemy, or move properly. Are all of you having these problems or is it just me? |

I've never had ANY of those problems... Karma was playing with us today and he just got high speed internet with a new computer and he was having tons of issues. You did install the patch right?

Re: Problems
H, I've had a couple of small glitches (always on the same maps), but nothing along the lines of your issues.
Try d/l it again and reinstalling. Those are some mondo serious bugs you have there. |

Re: Problems
I think you're patched up. There's only one patch so if you patched it, you're good. I'm not sure why you're having all these problems. These are some weird problems and I don't think it's one thing causing it all. Maybe a graphics driver switch will help out the vehicle and friendly tags problem.
I know some people have glitches with nVidia cards. I'm using ATI and don't have any graphics glitches. I guess there are some things that need to be worked out with the engine. The reload problem is so weird I'm speechless. Do you have a joystick hooked up? Disable it or any other special gaming device. Turn off joystick support in JO. The control system can really get screwy when it comes to joysticks and gamepads. It just doesn't work. Another thing is any options you change should be before you join a server. If you change options while connected to a server, it won't take until the next map loads or you exit and rejoin. I don't know why the options don't get loaded until next map load. The delay in stuff happening could be a connection problem. Maybe you're running a firewall or a router that's messing things up. Maybe the game is unable to keep up with what's going on so input is delayed. It's just plain weird and I don't know why it would be doing it. All I can say is if you have AA or AF turned on in your graphics drivers, turn them off and see if that helps. Run a framerate counter on the game and see what the FPS is. Maybe it's lagging because it hates your computer. |

That said, I'm running JointOps on a box with this stuff inside: AthlonXP 1800 256M RAM GF3 ti500 SB Live! on a 56k connection with no problems other than the expected connection lag and the known bugs that we've discussed in other threads.

Re: Problems
The reload, crouch and shooting guys with no effect sound like connection issues. I had those, and reconnecting fixed it for me.
The other stuff could be graphics driver issues, but may be more connection stuff. I saw you yesterday floating without a chopper....

Re: Problems
No clue H. Never had any of those problems.
I did find a lil map glitch on the "green island" map though. If you jump out of the hut you spawn in, and walk below it, sometimes the engine won't draw anything in front of me, beyond the hut. I'll still see muzzleflashes, and still get killed, but I won't be able to see anything...(just the hills/grass) |

Re: Problems
I ran into the weird lag problem you got, H-Hour. It's definitely a connection issue. I got it tonight when my Internet went down for about a minute. I wasn't completely timed out from the server so I was still connected after the Internet went up. Then I started having problems changing stance, reloading constantly and other things not updating correctly.
I bet you're having some kind of problem staying connected to the server. It must be dropping packets to you once in a while and screwing up your connection to the server. You probably didn't notice the connection timeout message at the top-right. I didn't notice it at first then after a few times I started seeing it when symptoms started. |
