    Update Wizard not connecting

    Hello.
    I am having a problem updating my game for online play. When I try and update it brings up the update wizard and leaves me with a box that says "Contacting update server. Please wait." Waiting doesnt seem to work. I am having a problem connecting. I running Windows XP and I'm not using a router or firewall. Any suggestions?

    Updating the Game

    Q: How do I update Joint Operations?

    Answer: In order to play in the multiplayer (LAN or NovaWorld) games of Joint Operations, a player should have the latest updated version of the game. One way to update is by going to the main title screen and pressing the “Update” button in the lower right side of the screen. Another way to update is to press the Start button on your desktop and navigate to the Update Game button in the Joint Operations Typhoon Rising folder.

    Medic, Have you tried the folder option?

    Yes, the problem looks like it is the connection to the server. It's weird though because my friend brought his comp over and we connected through a router so we could play LAN, and he connected and updated just fine.

    Have you tried running the UPDATE.EXE and REVUPDATE.EXE programs inside of your Joint Operations folder? I've had to do that a couple times as opposed to clicking on the link while in-game.

    I know that the update program simply goes out and connects via FTP to NovaLogic's FTP servers and grabs the files. The username/password are visible in plain text in the novaftp.txt file in your JO directory. I haven't really tried to make sense of their FTP directory structure yet, but I would assume you could just FTP the updates manually over to your machine. But since I don't know the full process for that yet, I wouldn't advise it. :-)

    ok. I appreciate the help apophis, but it seems like no luck.. and I can't seem to log into the ftp manually.
    When I use the update wizard.. I get this far:

    Hate to really cheese you off but...

    Theres another update out. Borrowed this from the nova site.


    "If you hit "Update" on the main screen or from the start menu shortcut, it will update you to version 1.2.0.7. We have fixed the bug that was causing the "remember my info" feature to freeze the game.

    This update is optional and is not required. However.. if you are experiencing the following problems, this update is the fix for them.

    Menu freeze after the intro movie

    or

    "Incompatable" error messages

    YOU MUST HAVE UPDATED USING THIS FILE FIRST

    Yay! The update worked! That was strange though.. I downloaded that same update off of novalogic's website and it didn't do anything.
