Re: Joint Operations Tweak Guide
Here are a couple of other links that might be useful.
It's helpful to get Windows running a clean and fast as possible. Black Viper's site will help you unload some of the background junk that's sucking valuable cpu cycles and resources. Here's the link: http://www.blackviper.com/ I also use a utility called EndItAll which shuts down the background apps. I run it right before I load up JO. Here's the link: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Reviews/r91.html I hope this helps. Bear

Re: Joint Operations Tweak Guide
I've been reading the XP tweaking that is associated in this article. has anyone actually ever done an XP tweak? There are several downloads needed and much system configuring...this seems a bit above my head. Never the less, I am downloading as I type.
Back to the ques...has anyone ever done this before? |

Re: Joint Operations Tweak Guide
Patorean,
I reconfigured or "tweaked" my new PC as soon as I got it out of the box. My computer (DELL XPS) literally goes from off to usable in 30 seconds. It's because the OS doesn't have to load a bunch of unused apps. I would recommend tweaking to anyone using Windows as their operating system. It's a little daunting and mildly frightening the first time you do it but if you follow the easy step by step guides it's not so bad. I'm not a pc expert but after years of simming, I've learned to squeeze every single cpu cycle possible out of my pc. The reality is Windows comes configured with a whole bunch of stuff your average user doesn't need. All of that "stuff" running in the background takes resources and subsequently slows down your PC. I looked at the guide in the link above and it's very good. It might be a little more user friendly than the Black Viper site. You shouldn't have to download anything. Most of the tweaks are done simply by checking or more often, unchecking specific options within Windows. It's definitely worth doing.
