Enemy target recognition

I'm having a hard time with two idenifiers...one being from the air and the other on the ground...

Got any tips...

I just seem not to be able to identify the ground targets, If it be a man or the woods or a moving tree ....Are these gunners just shooting at everything and hoping?

On the ground it seems like if I get in close there is just to much going on to pick out a target fast enough to shoot. Or should I just shoot and figure out late?

Any tips guys? Yes I'm old and blind and pretty slow so be nice....

Re: Enemy target recognition

LOL I'm halfway there myself.

Most of these guys are running and gunning, as you mentioned, and doing the bunny hop everytime a gun goes of in their direction . I've had to slow down and hit them with full auto most of the time to make sure they are down.

Try to hook up some co-op with us when you can OSD. Little bit slower paced and just good damn practice for the pubby servers.

It's like GR all over again, co-op to learn the game then TvT to see how long you can stay alive.

Re: Enemy target recognition

In the air, shoot at anything you think is bad. It doesn't hurt to be wrong since enemies will hear that chopper and spot you way before you can spot them. Most of the time, ground units show up as tiny black dots. If you look hard enough, you may see them move or realize the black dot looks more like person. Pubbies tend to spray and pray and I don't blame them since the graphics doesn't show units very well from far away.

When you're on the ground, use the binoculars when you think you see an enemy. If you still can't tell the difference between a bush and a bad guy, then you're probably too far to engage anyway. Also, if there's a tag, hold fire. If there isn't a tag, empty that clip. The trick is to stay concealed and take your time.

I'm writing a cover and concealment document right now so that might help. I approach TvT by staying stealthy as much as possible and engaging on my terms on my territory. Co-op will help in identifying targets but be prepared for the real thing when human enemies spot you 10x faster.

Re: Enemy target recognition

Sarc's beginning to sound like Badger--lol.

The awful truth of the matter OSD is that this game is designed for running and gunning--at least it doesn't handicap those that play that way, which is why the action tends to be at such a high tempo. Hey, if you die, you can always respawn, so many, many pubbies simply run around and shoot at anything and everything. I personally wish more servers had long waits for respawns in order to encourage people to play a little smarter, but that's neither here nor there.

The best thing to do is to jump into a game, take your lumps initially, and get used to things. Co-op is a good starting point. I think the TG server is set for co-op now and then; also, the boys over at RSi play a great, organized style of co-op.
