Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
I know that there are some of you that are wondering how experience works in JO. I don't exactly know myself but I've compiled what I do know of the experience points system from the score.ini file. It seems to be different for each gametype. I'll only list the point breakdown for AAS.
These are the stats that show at the end of the round: EXPERIENCE POINTS # OF ENEMY KILLS # OF DEATHS # OF ASSISTS # OF MEDIC SAVES # OF PSP TAKEOVERS SHOTS PER KILL This is how points are awarded: DEATH -2 SUICIDE -2 TEAM KILL -20 ENEMY KILL 5 IN THE ZONE BONUS 1 - I'm not sure how this works. It may be a point for being in the zone when it's taken or something else altogether. ZONE QUANTUM 5 - I have no idea how this is used in the calculations. MEDIC SAVE 5 REVIVE 5 - I assume this is the same as a med save. PSP TAKEOVER 15 DOUBLE KILL BONUS 10 HEAD SHOT KILL BONUS 5 KNIFE KILL BONUS 5 I'm not sure how assists are calculated. It doesn't seem to be one point for each assist. The value of each assist seems to depend on the assisted action. I'm not sure what actions can be assisted. I think kills, med saves and psp takeovers can be assisted. There may be other actions that can award a player with an assist. Team kills, suicides and deaths will subtract points but there are other ways to lose points. If you transport a teammate and he dies during the bonus period, you lose some points. I'm not sure of the exact value but I think it's around 2 points and not more than 10. |

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
I'm still not sure how the points are calculated, and to be honest, I wonder how important/accurate they are anyway. A few nights ago a few of us played, and somehow, I had one of the highest scores, even though my own kills to deaths ratio was 1:2. I suppose dying with grace gives you good experience
The stats are cute and all, but not something I really pay attention to. |

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
I have a feeling that assists will take you further than you think. I still haven't found any evidence of the exact value of assists but ferrying 5 soldiers to the front lines should pay off well if they accomplish their mission.
Dying is not as bad as you think. For AAS, enemy kills are 5 points and deaths subtract 2 points. So, for every 2 kills you can die 5 times and still break even. That's if the kills weren't important like a defensive/offensive kill. |

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
I guess that makes sense. Another issue I have with the scoring is that someone that has played an entire match will get a "better" score than someone that jumped in, say half-way, but was more effective in that shorter period of time. I guess that what I'm getting at, is the scores are open to a lot of interpretation, and really don't tell much of the story imo.

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
Your not entirely right? I have come into a game late, and for some reason I am highr on the board than a lot of guy with technically better stats. My "opinion" is that this occurs because I am being given some kind of benefit for not having played as long.
I could be thoroughly wrong though. |

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
Well, one thing to really look at are assists. I have a feeling that a bulk of points can be obtained from assisting other players either by transporting players to a destination or driving for a gunner.
It really is quite a mystery since there isn't any documentation on how the stats are calculated. It's almost worthless to even look at them since nobody knows how to properly interpret them. Kills definitely mean squat unless there are a lot of points that go with it. A lot of is left to open interpretation. |

Re: Scoring - Experience Points Breakdown
I'm not sure of that but I doubt it. I think NovaLogic wants points to be handed out when you contribute to the team and just being a part of the team really isn't anything special.
