Just a blast...
I was on the other night and got into the gunner position on a blackhawk. The pilot really could fly and went back and forth ferrying troops (as one should) and we provided close air support for assaulting team members. It was such a blast. I didn't get that many kills as the pilot had to keep moving for fear of stingers and rpg's but the enemy was so distracted by the sound of that mini-gun buzzing that our troops went in and took the bases quickly. What a blast!! Helping out the team by not getting the most kills but by providing cover fire and a distraction. Awesome!

Re: Just a blast...
This is a great tactic to use and one I love to employ. The other day I used this with a team mate. I kept cirling the base and he kept shooting. I think we went round about 10 times before we were brought down. It was one of those AH6 attack helo's that brought us down in the end.
If you get a good pilot he'll maintain a steady turn rate so the gunner can predict his movements, which is all important. Then the gunner can reign down the fire and keep those in base distracted enough for a good assault to be launched.
I can tell you from experience that it's really satisfying, as a pilot, to see your gunner getting kills. I love flying and it is my best skill in the game. I really suck at shooting in this game, and this game alone so I choose to be a pilot instead - bummer though on maps without helo's and I turn up in my pilot gear lol!

Re: Just a blast...
It definitely is fun being a gunner with a good pilot. I had the experience once with a public player. He just knew how to fly and we scored a couple of kills but really distracted the enemy. The pilot was even kind enough to tell me he was going to bail.

Yea, teamwork is where its at whether you are sniping, flying, boating, whatever. This is how the game was meant to be played.
