Surviving a knife fight

There has been a lot of talk the last 3 nights stemming from mine and Newswrthy's now approaching famous knife fight night. Some things we both did, that really helped us were this.

1. Keep moving. When someone is running towards you or you are stalking him, don't stand still. Keep running in irratic movements. This will make it hard for the other guy to get a bead on you with his knife, or his partner's rifle if he is watching you. When I say irratic movements, I mean, left and right forward and back, and of course jumping. It is really hard to line up on a guy who is all over the place.

2. Find high ground. If you are at the same level as your opponent, it is much easier for him to slice you. After all, he has your whole body in front of him. But if you are on higher ground, IE a vehicle's roof or on top of some rocks or just uphill to him, you can jump and slice with some pretty amazing results. Usually an opponent who is slit from head to gutt.

3. Turn and slice. One of the worst things you can do is come head on to an opponent. It usually ends up with you both dyin as you both get hit by the blades. Instead, sidestep by him on a pre selected side. If you run by him on the right side, turn left as you go by, sidestepping right and slicing at the same time. And vise versa for the left side run by. This does a couple of things. First, your opponent is most likely going to slice forward, cause that is where he expects you to be. But by sidestepping at the last minute, he gets dissorientated. Secondly, it increases you slicing area. You have your hand outward in a slicing arc, so your opponent runs into your blade. Kinda like a wrestler's clothesline move. By the time he sees it, it is too late. Thirdly, this gives you time to recover if you miss. If you do miss, you spin 180 degrees and slice him from the rear. I have found that most people will stop and turn to get their bearings if they are in folage or dense underbrush. Take advantage of it. You already know where he is cause you just passed him. Just turn and slice. If he has kept running like a scared school girl at a biker bar, chase him down. Don't wait for him to turn to face you. I carry less kit, so I run faster than some. This pays off here. You can catch him pretty fast and knife him in the back.

4. Practice. Not a lot of people practice this. It is an art form. In order to successfully win every fight, you need to practice. Practice timings when running as well as walking in the crouched position. They vary slightely. Knowing where to hit and when to hit is the key. But it only gets better with time and lots of practice. If you practice in game, you will spend a lot of time waiting for the respawn counter to count down.

5. Gloat. Once you have killed your opponent, and you have time, let him know you killed him. I mean, not by just reading the score message, but really gloat. I usually do this by kneeling down over him and knifing him over and over. Listening to the liquidy squishy sounds comming from his limp body. Ask Newswrthy, he and I know this sound well . Nothing like the feeling of standing over an opponents dead body after a good knife fight. Especially one that has gone on for a bit. It is even more degrading for your opponents moral, if you get the guy more than once.

Re: Surviving a knife fight

If you lose initiative (it turns into a knife vs knife dogfight) or if you lose sight of the bad guy, back up. If he follows you he will have to go through your knife to get you. And if you open up the range you can switch to a real weapon. Nothing funnier than shooting a guy who's chasing you with a knife.

Nothing as good as standing ovr his dead body and knifing over and over listening to the squishy noises coming from him. He has no coice but to watch until his timer allows him to rejoin. Right NewsWorthy. We have done it many many times. It is quite gratifying.

Re: Surviving a knife fight

Good tips coldbore, one trick that works for me is knifing just before you get close to the target then move back, how soon you should knife defends on how much lag - the more lag, the sooner you should knife. Leaning left or right while engaging the target helps a lot too, if you're comfortable using combination of keys.
