Training Day

Hi team,

Been thinking about putting together a JO training day to go over a few basic tactics like assault, defence, vehicle use, etc.

I was thinking that we could split into two groups and work to some set plays as well as going over some basic infantry fire and movement tactics. One thing I've been saying from the start is that concentrated firepower is the way forward in this game. This is one of several avenues I think would have it's greatest impact by people actually partaking in the action.

I intend this to be a fairly simple and short(ish) exercise. I was thinking to practice 2 defence strategies, two attack strategies, some basic infantry tactics and some proper helo use.

Let me know if you're interested - this will work a lot better if we can get a lot of people. If we don't get that many I can adjust the tactics to smaller squad sizes but I hope that isn't the case. Also if anyone has any tactics they'd like to try out prepare them and we'll fit them in. I'll have a loose plan and a timeframe to keep this kind of formalised so we stay on track and don't stray.

This is an opportunity to really try out proper, co-ordinated attack/defence manoeuvres. We've all played enough to get down how we shoot and move, now I think if we can get down some strategies we could go a lot further a truely see how well, or badly, a properly organised force using set techniques can affect a game. If it works out well perhaps we can have others run a workshop, perhaps once a month?

Thanks,

Re: Training Day

Everyone will need to let me know when they will be able to make it. If you are available anytime then just say so, otherwise specifiy a timeframe.

It will be for the weekend of the 24th and I would like everyone to spend this week giving me times they can attend. The more that can make it the better this will be and after practice we can obviously go out there and get some proper gaming in

Re: Training Day

No known conflicts for that weekend yet for me. The sooner we lock down a time, the better I can make it a schedule priority.

Re: Training Day

Looks good to me too. Fri is my least favorite, but I can make it happen if that's the consensus.

The JO training is next weekend. The BF slaughter of all you people is tomorrow.

Does TG need to get a pool going to send you some money so you can buy a calendar or learn to read one.

Re: Training Day

OK so friday is looking to be the least favourable time, so it will probably be either Sat or Sun. The format will be thus;

Basic Infantry Tactics - how these work in JO
BIF Practical
Base Defence - How to optimise you defenders and use what you have available to deny the enemy a presence.
BD Practical
Base Assault - How to move to, set up and coordinate an assault onto a base.
BA Practical.

This isn't some rigid military regime, so bring what you can as well as we all know something that someone else doesn't. The idea is to go over some basic defend/attack techniques and then practice some set pieces and see how they work out. Ideally, I'd like at least eight per side (so sixteen players), but if we can't get that many we can still go over a lot of stuff.
By working together we will be able to gleen a better understanding of how a well coordinated attack/defence can work. This shouldn't take too long either, so don't expect to be going through an AA like training course.

If anyone is interested, I've been working on a Special Forces document as well for JO. Me and some of the TE guys have been practicing some stuff and we've been having a blast (quite literally). If anyone is interested, I can also host a workshop for this too. This will be only available to groups of four, so if you play regularly with some people, coordinate with them and PM or email me (email link in my sig). If not then I'll post up schedule in a couple of weeks and see if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Re: Training Day

Looks as though this will have to be on Sunday now as I have a birthday to go to on Sat.

Final time then is Sunday 26th September, 16:00 EST.
