Tactics do work

Quote:
Tonight I experienced something new that literally gave me a headache... I'm not kidding... I now have a freakin headache because I got so frustrated with this.

I was playing on the big Meadowlands server on JO and on the rebels was a full strength squad/clan. Now I've played with lots of Clanners before, but not any full clans on one team. Our team was helpless. Now while I won't mention the squad name, I admit at first I thought they were all cheating, but no... the flaw was not in the sqaud, but in all of us.

They used perfect teamwork and each one of them was highly skilled enough that it took a lot of guys just to take one of them down. We were target pratice for them. The lack of teamwork in a public server was exploited and magnified by this stunningly powerful team. We did not stand a chance. On an unlimited server, we lost game after game in well under an hour (about 15-30 minutes).

I was embarassed. At the end of each map the top ten rankings were occupied by the squad almost completely. I don't want to have to join a squad to have to use team tactics. I just want good gameplay and tonight I could not even move.

Lah if you read this... help me... I give up. I can't stand playing on these massive servers anymore... I think it is raising my stress levels, which is reminding me of STRES, which is raising my stress levels even more. So please, where would I find the "good" servers like you were talking about. If anyone else knows good servers, please tell me where to find them so I don't become cannon fodder for the squads who practice in the public servers.

Re: Tactics do work

I feel your pain Jex. I too see what it's like playing on public servers. It's basically a bunch of people running around getting killed. Until I found this site I was one myself. Unless you can effectively communicate between teammates i.e "TeamSpeak", which is something your really not gonna do on a public server. Your kind of forced to play RAMBO style. I don't think I have joined a squad on a public server and had much success. I'm not saying it's not possible. I play everyday and have played with some of the people here using Teamspeak. Most recently last Thursday night. Even though we were outnumbered in our games by another clan we managed to hold our own through communication. Even a team of two can reak havoc if they can communicate. The only thing I can tell you Jex is if you play on a public server expect to play solo. You can try and give suggestions to other players i.e mortor here or attack there but be prepared to do it first yourself so others will get the hint. Like I said I play everyday usually later afternoon and or after 6pm est. I usually play on east and play AAS. Look me up if you want and we can squad up and do some damage together.

One more thing. Practice Practice Practice.

Re: Tactics do work

OOh it's not me lol - I was quoting someone from Nova forums lol

I posted this up just to bring home the point that team work and tactics work in this game. This really is to highlight that by working together, in a set, practiced way, we should be able to be a deciding factor in any combat.

In many scenarios, players will play together and work together but a lot of the time it is just a bunch of individuals that happen to be in the same area. What if you all were working to a plan? Say 3 riflemen up front backed up by 2 medics that had a few set moves to play out when they engaged an enemy. By practicing these manoeuvres, you suddenly become a much more capable force.

It sounds as though this is precisley the sort of thing that went on here, and to devasting effect. By practicing these tactics with each other, just like the army does, will mean greater proficiency for the team.

It is this reason why some teams simply own every other. Because they seriously practice together until it is second nature - and that's how you get good at anything.

Re: Tactics do work

If you do not want to join a squad for JO, my advise:

Play in servers with no more then 30-40 peeps and teamup with guys that already play together.

....Then again, its hard to beat a 12-18 peeps force that are organized and communicate.

If you do not want to join a squad, play here. This is the basis of Tactical Gamer. We play with tactics and teamwork without the commitment of squad gaming.

Re: Tactics do work

Tactics do work indeed.

I think whoever posted that in Nova forum is taking the game too seriously and he shouldn't get frustrated with it - it's a good chance to watch and learn from the pros by observing how squads work as a team in a public server. Learn to feel good from doing all you can to help the team you're in and don't worry too much if you win or lose, it's a game - you should be having fun while playing.

Perhaps - I think a lot of posters generally try to embellish their posts to make them a more interesting read. Other than me, I never embellish my posts or make anything up at all. But I can't stand around here chatting all day, As I type, an alien invasion fleet is hiding behind one of Saturn's moons, waiting to strike. I, and I alone hold the secret code to their 'death star' and must make my way to Sirius B to deliver it. All I need now is some kind of space faring vehicle...
