    Reality Mod - Development Talk

    Just thought I'd start a thread for following what's going on with the next beta version of this mod. Brutal Arts, the team working on this, now has their own site and forums here. Much of the discussion is over several posts in ther forums, but the devs are very involved in it all.

    I am pretty hooked on this mod and plan to stay on top of its development. I'll post news and interesting info from there, linking to forum threads if the info isn't easy to encapsulate in a brief update here.

    Version 0.16 UPDATED Development notes

    This is a list of what is going to be looked at in the next beta version of the mod. This is gathered from playtesting and feedback on these and the Reality Friends forums.

    » From Feedback

    1.Forced walk with iron sights up
    2.No Kill messages
    3.Closer to realistic chopper speeds
    4.Better balancing on Assault Rifles/SMG's
    5.MP5 for snipers
    6.Sniping to be looked at (range finding etc)
    7.LMG Balancing issues to be resolved
    8.Mortars rounds amount and fire delay time
    9.Auto m16 missing from armoury's
    10.An m4 with an ACOG 4x scope and one with a reflex sight
    11.Thinner Lines on m4 scope
    12.M203's to accurate
    13.recoils to be looked at
    14.A proper installer thanks to striker 1991
    15.Increased Bullet Damage
    16.New Skins
    17.Revamped graphics in areas
    18.Night scope weapon variants

    » Bugs

    1.Medic code will be looked over
    - sometimes dead people can be revived
    - medic packs hurting people in some cases
    2.Default Skins bug
    3.Expansion MisMatch bug
    4.Some guns missing from being available to both sides
    5.Intro music volume control
    6.NBO/ 50 Cal recoil needs to be checked
    7.Player Options screen selections when not going through Reality Shortcut

    I posted the following suggestions over at Brutal Arts and received this encouraging response from their "super administrator":

    Some suggestions coming out of our enthusiastic testing of the mod by Tactical Gamer members and server visitors:

    (1) Create back-blast effect for AT-4's and RPG's so that anyone standing too close behind them is injured or killed when they're fired.

    (2) Make .50 cal rounds from sniper rifle able to piece light armor and damage other vehicles. Particularly in vulnerable areas of light armor, like front and sides.

    both very good and realistic ideas, we'll see what can be done about the 1st but i believe the 2nd is pretty easy to implement

    Question for Apo and Orion:

    See my exchange with Bansheel of Brutal Arts, below, after I reported this bug. This happened on both the TG server and Orion's "server/computer." Could you either give me the answer to relay or go register at Brutal Arts and reply yourselves?

    All of us testing the mod on the TacticalGamer server last night came into any game -- AAS or co-op -- with no weapons, regardless of what loadout we'd pre-selected. Once we visited any armory, we had a full loadout.
