Embalmer and I tried the low flying, full speed drop off last night and it works! No need to stop now just get low (terrain permitting of course) and jump out. Watch out though as when you jump you usually end up 100M further away from where you pressed the exit-vehicle button. Your pilot should be the one to say when as he is in control of the chopper. |

Re: Chopper Tactics
When flying a helo with the miniguns, keep threats on your 10 or 2 to give your gunners an angle to hit the threat. The guns can't point directly forward and it's hard to see them there from the gunner positions anyway.

Re: Chopper Tactics
Well if we now don't even have to land that chopper, has anyone tested if u could get your people to land on top of the bunkers themselves to take it from the roof down, and if u have, did take lots of trial and error to time in right?

Re: Chopper Tactics
Oh and on the landing, just remember airborne school, keep your feet and knees together, head at 90 degrees from the direction of the fall and roll. I think someone should ask nova for a quick rope insertion method for the blackhawk, that would be hellacool if they could pull that off, get near the target, pilot hovers above, ropes down, team out, drop the ropes, and fly away guns blazing! Sounds like Ranger s#$t there, HOOAH!

I was thinking that this should be SOP for *any* chopper flight. Another thought I had for copilot-as-defender would be that he is also responsible for manning flares. The pilot has enough on their plate just flying that to have to juggle another keypress when going evasive could diminsh their ability to fly effectively. If the copilot has a Stinger armed and is watchful for both airborne threats and Stinger launches, this flying duo could probably survive a bit longer. Sidenote... I was just imagining a Blackhawk loaded with troops, all armed with Stingers. Can you imagine what it would look like to an enemy chopper pilot when a Blackhawk suddenly unleashes an entire volley of 6 or more Stingers?!?!

Re: Chopper Tactics
Or how about a little bird with riflemen and AT4s on the benches. It becomes one nasy ass anti vehicle platform.

Re: Chopper Tactics
Yup--the slower choppers work better for this, but it does work. In a few seconds a base defended by 1 or 2 ppl suddenly has over a half-dozen troops to deal with, with very little warning. We're definitely on to something here. It's demanding on the pilots, but practice does pay off, as last night proved.
