Infected guide for beginners!

Ok guys lets set out some hints and tips for beginners and other that are looking for extra ways to play the infected classes, lets try and keep this sturctured so it is easily readable.

Hunter:
(1) Never attack on your own unless they are also on their own. You will be shot down before you can get a punch in. Wait till they are confused by one of the other classes.
(2) Use your jumping ability to your advantage, you can get places others can't like venting systems and such by leaping into them and then dropping from unseenspots. Also dropping from hieghts give you extra damage so try and use this.
(3) Guide to being Hunter.
(4) You don't have to always pounce with hunters. If the survivoirs are getting rushed say you can just drop down behind them and slash. Before they realize it you have done 40 plus damage without being killed from a pounce.
(5) If you can spawn next to a smoker and he has a lone survivor in wraps don't pounce!! Slash and the double damage will take him out faster.
(6) Also if your not sure what to do and your by a boomer after he attacks its good to get in so he can get away.

Smoker:
(1) Always look for advantageous surroundings, look out for the climbing spots these willlead to usefull hiding spots that you can pull survivors away from the pack without keepingyourself easily killed. When smoking from a window do not stand right in the center but slightly to one side, this will limit the survivors view of you and so will give you a chance to survive and regroup.
(2) Smoker people back through the level, always smoker people from behind and drag them back to places they have been, this way when they need saving the survivors will have to back track to rescue and give the rest of your team time to set up. Dragging people forward as a smoker just helps them in the direction they are going and chances are part of the team will be watching forward towards you.
(3) You don't do much damage, but you're able to easily move the survivors around and remove their ability to shoot from a long range. Don't concentrate on killing; concentrate on disruption and removing firepower. A horde helping you is really the main time you will do damage.

Boomer:
(1) Do not hide behind doors, it is common practice when hearing a boomer to shoot through a door and so hiding behind one will get you shot without you blowing up on the survivors who are behind the door.
(2) Try and catch players when they are in one group, this may sound obvious but you do not just have to try for the first survivor you see but wait till you can get a good chunk, due to the slightly blinding this means hunters can pounce under the cover and will not be spotted by the survivors team mates.
(3) Boom players that are already down, they will find it very hard to defend against a boomer rush while on the floor.
(4) Try not to attack from behind. Chasing survivors is a sure way to get a belly full of lead. Let them come to you.
(5) Your vomit is affected by gravity. It arches and it falls. You can vomit over stuff, up to stuff, and straight down. You don't always have to boomer bomb from roofs. You don't always have to stick your head in sight to vomit either.
(6) It is a very fast technic but very good for boomers to ghost then spawn right as u attack. Don't let them hear where your at unless its inteneded.
(7) As a boomer I think as soon as he spawns if there is no zombie horde he should always attack. Yes the rest of the infected are needed but the boomers attack constantly is very important.

Tank:
(1) Concentrate on one player at a time and knock them to the ground and once down move onto the next player. When all 4 survivors are attacking you at once do not panic but focus on the girl lol.
(2) Green survivors can outrun you. Either throw something at them, outsmart their pathing, or find someone else to smash. Don't let them kite you.
(3) Separate them. Make sure your teammates have a chance to take one out of the fight while you are distracting the remaining survivors.
(4) DON'T TEAMKILL. Please. Sometimes it can't be avoided.
(5) Tank look to see if the surviviors are going to set you afire. If they are stay your distence and use rocks. You will be surprised how much damage you can do. Also look for something that you can move. A car or tree trunk will take a whole team out in 1 swipe.

General:
(1) Being an infected with a rushing group you should ghost that group so you can get right around the corner when the time comes (smoker excluded, he should always spawn behind unless they are at the safe door then get as close as possible and slash them).

Please add your own tips nd I will try and update the list as we go on.

Re: Infected guide for beginners!

Nice post guys this is well needed. Please everyone if you can direct the newbies here if they hav't seen this already.

I find being an infected with a rushing group you should ghost that group so you can get right around the corner when the time comes (smoker excluded, he should always spawn behind unless they are at the safe door then get as close as possible and slash them).

It is a very fast technic but very good for boomers to ghost then spawn right as u attack. Don't let them hear where your at unless its inteneded.

Oh also take into account the map size. If the maps to big you cant go in first with the boomer you need a distraction. As a boomer I think as soon as he spawns if there is no zombie horde he should always attack. Yes the rest of the infected are needed but the boomers attack constantly is very important.

Re: Infected guide for beginners!

As long as your team is doing damage to the survivors you want them to stay still as much as possible, but if they set up somewhere that only a tank can hit them, wait just a little ahead or behind where they are then attack.

A good example of this is at the elevator on level 4 of no mercy. Often the survivors go into the closet and you can not hurt them without a tank, you can cover them with a boomer, but that is all you can do.

What you should do is set up just outside the room, so when they leave for the elevator a smoker pulls one of them back, the the hunters ponce on those that go to save them. Then cover them as they will run back otherwise.

Re: Infected guide for beginners!

As a tank be aware that you also do damage to your fellow zombies! Dont hit survivors who are pounced by one of your hunters or being pulled by a smoker. You will free the survivors and eventually kill your own teammates.

Re: Infected guide for beginners!

Also Note..If you area TANK you can Hit Through a WALL if the Survivors (aka BADGUYS) are sitting on the other side of it.. Sometimes this helps avoid the AUTO SHOTTY WALL OF DEATH...

And if mentioned above sorry... If you are a TANK...wait a bit till the other infected are ready (or as close as possible..)... the TANK needs the other Zombies to be effective...

Sounds like a bug/exploit?

Hard to tell if it is, the tank can destroy/move elements of the maps that the other infected can not. Maybe it was at one time able to destroy any wall and was removed last minute?
