Using Medkits and Health Pills
I wanted to separate this topic but feel free to merge it with the other thread.
In expert mode, you simply or rarely find any med kits anywhere except when it doesnt actually matter unless your team is already beat up pretty bad and not doing too well. What I mean by this, is that you do not find a Medkit lying around like you would with pills. In fact, the only ones Ive seen so far is two near the end of the last level of Death Toll, and none lying around (only in final cabinets) in No Mercy.
Medkits basically heal you to 80hp from any health, though the more you have, the higher health you will end up with unless your hp is temporary hp. Also since you are green, you run fast, as opposed to slower to limping at yellow and red and 1hp. They also reset you from dying on the third knockdown.
Since dying is bad for your team, and you can suffer two knockdowns before dying, and medkits removing "black/white vision" giving you a second life, I think it is best to save Medkits only for healing when someone is at 1hp and he needs the hp to move and there are no pills, or you need to prepare for an encounter and he needs hp, or he is seeing gray.
This makes players who work as a team and take care of each other make medkits last much longer than just healing as soon as you are red wasting knockdown and temp health boosts from revives. This is the same as the concept of dying and respawning with 50 perma hp instead of moving on using pills to boost hp to keep going at a decent pace (though to me this seems like cheesing the system completely since you can preserve medkits always if you can free people from safe rooms) while bleeding on temporary health has negative impact on the team so choices can be made without letting anyone die.
As for pills, this work slightly differently. Since they only give you a temp boost of 50 or so health, the most important thing it does is let you run as fast as you would with green health. So the idea behind the pill should be to use it whenever you need to move, and then rely on your team to help cover you like normal (shouldnt be losing HP anyways in most situations) even if you have 1 hp. Take tank situations for example. If a Tank is coming and you all busted your pills randomly because you wanted an hp buff that you did not even take real damage after used, now you are all limping around while the tank beats you down. Healthy survivors can run faster than the tank and pills is all you need to best a tank 1:1. I know its sweet to pop pills as soon as you get them, but that should only be done when there are many pills lying around and your entire team is full on pills to carry.
This way, medical supplies are conserved and used only when needed (ie, if the team needs to run across a wide open area, fight a tank, prepare for an event, gets surprised by a horde and you need the extra buff just incase).
Even in expert mode, you can avoid getting hit most of the time by putting yourself near your team, and making sure they cover you from hunter pounces + smokers, and that you are aware of your surroundings at all time. The most damage I see is not from special bosses but from 1 zombie that slips by all 4 guys (say you use the 2 man front 1 support 1 rear), and starts wacking someone up front while the support guy is covering the rear person from a smoker. 1 hit is 20 hp and it doesnt take long to add that damage up in close quarters.
And...how else are you going to get through a campaign without getting knocked down or healed (achievement) on anything harder than normal?

Re: Using Medkits and Health Pills
I tend to use the health kit only when I see grey nowdays. Many are the times when I have used the health kit and then pushed long distances away from smoker when players don't know that you can shoot me to free me without doing any damage to me and then Im back to where I was before I used the health kit...
When playing on expert only heal when you see grey or you got finale ahead of you. All health packs not used can be retreaved later if needed.|TG| Kebab-Kastike reporting for duty. | Why? Tubes! The internet is tubes!

Re: Using Medkits and Health Pills
Depends on what difficulty you're running. On the easier difficulties you'll come across medpacks quite often.
I like to hold my medpack, but I'm not afraid to use one early. Especially if you're running more than 1 character in the red and sitting on medpacks. Two red characters are two easily downed characters when you get hit with a bad luck or well timed assault. Smoker or Hunter hops a third and you're really in trouble. So I find I most often use them after the scripted hordes, in general.
