Re: 12/04 update
I meant vs. mode, but we play the entire campaign of either no mercy or blood harvest in vs. mode. You know, kinda like a match where both sides agree to not use the exploits such as blocking off safehouses or doorways with props so the survivors cant get inside them, or the weapon-switch exploit to increase melee speed for survivors.
Playing the game on normal difficulty in the fashion I have described is quite a bit different then filling a team with your friends then smashing a bunch of puggers or disorganized friends not working together then claiming normal mode is to easy.

Re: 12/04 update
With 2 solid teams normal is easy. Yes there is still the score and it will be close but both teams will survive most of the time if not all. This is 2 teams working together that is. And yes being that it matters being able to survive I think the harder challenge for both teams is fine.
Not only in easy but in advanced you can be down the whole versus campaign and win in the end. The score is lower and the survival is also lower. I see it as more of a challenge.FUN FUN

Re: 12/04 update
I don't like the idea of VS being LOCKED into normal. I think you should be able to select it. Just because I think anytime the game decides (later, in a PATCH) oh wait, no... NO CHOICE FOR YOU! it stinks.

Good luck getting rid of your disease. If you're infected, though, stay away--I can't afford to be a zombie right now.

Re: 12/04 update
They patched it again.
I'm glad they're patching exploits as fast as l4d411 is posting them, but I wish they would stop locking difficulty. Changing versus mapmaking is good, but locking difficulty isn't.Fixed Infected Players melee pushing large objects to block the survivors path
Fixed +lobby exploit
Fixed exploit of "hugging" the Witch from behind where she can't hit you
Fixed players not being kicked from a vote by changing their name before it succeeds
Disabled difficulty change votes from the console in versus mode
Anyway, we can change the infected damage on the server cfg file. Not sure about item spawn rate.

Re: 12/04 update
See, this is what bothers me when people give anectodal evidence about why normal is to easy and advanced is perfect. Nobody wants to put their "money where their mouth is" so to speak unless they are CAL-M apparently. I'm saying against a decent team you wont think normal is to easy for survivors and to difficult for infected. You are saying normal is to easy and both teams will rescue most of the possible survivors over the course of a campaign. I'm saying lets play and see which point of view is right, and all I get is explainations that don't involve playing as to why normal is to easy.

Re: 12/04 update
When considering the balance of Infected vs. Survivors it's important to remember that the infected come back to life in at most 30 seconds whereas survivors only have the one life. Further, it's the job of the infected to stop the survivors finishing the level. This is most simply accomplished by attrition, but means the infected have to be willing to die a lot. It's not till the Survivors start losing med packs, bleeding, and staggering about at different speeds that the Infected really get their chance to end things.

Re: 12/04 update
I am wondering if the difficulty seems to be that we can now all play the 2 Versus senarios in our sleep if we have to? There are a few "secret" or unplayed regions on each map..but once you found the Closet or the corner of the house you know you can defend the challenge slowly creeps out of it.
The witch is a Joke anymore with the correct weapon to the back of the head (Although I did piss her off as Infected the other day and she attacked and killed me... Women...)
The infected I guess get a shot at trying to invent ways to counter the survivors tested defenses... but we need the other scenarios opened up!!! PLZ uber fast!!!..|TG|ARMA Pathfinder
..now where did I put my keys?

Re: 12/04 update
Though he exaggerates, I agree melee spam is an issue. I don't blame the people who do it; I blame Valve. It's difficult not to melee everything before you even think about shooting it. Most people, myself included, would be hypocrites to say that we don't excessively melee, or at least blindly melee during certain circumstances (boomered, huntered, rushed, etc).
Valve removing the melee fatigue option, though it inadvertently fixed other glitches, was a bad move. Though I hate myself for my inability to stop doing it, melee spam is addicting in its evilness. Valve needs to help me and many others break this addiction.
