That's part of the charm for me. The more you fail, the more you need to switch up your strategy.

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Advanced is too easy once you have your team and tactics down. Expert is the only way to go imo.
It does make me wonder what people would do if you took away the melee attack though...

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Well, for some expert is hard, for some expert is really easy. That being said, I find expert the most enjoyable (mainly because I get to see sparhawk die a lot).

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Additionally - I also love seeing my fellow players get ripped to shreds after I've already died. Some weird satisfaction there...

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Yeah being pointman sucks. I think its how we set it up though. If the pointman was hunting rifle, then he could pick all he wants. His backup should get autoshotty so they could time reloading and never have to do a long reload. This allows them to cover the sniper (crouched) and kill anything nearly and melee over their head. But you had an auto, and half the time you had to melee, so it was hard for you, since you played close instead of far as pointman.
Either way though, after we got used to the gun choices/movement/style we were good to go.

Re: Anyone else love expert?
I would try other position but I can watch and try to keep the team together better. With newer people they still lag behind and being lead I can just stop or have the group fall back. Honestly Making sure your team stays safe is very important. And close to you at all times. I get nervous if we split and check 2 rooms side by side. Others say yes you have to keep moving but if you have to go back to save your flankman every 15 seconds its not worth it.

Re: Anyone else love expert?
I prefer to play the coop on advanced or expert, but honestly...
i never find a group of TGers who
a) want to play coop (seems like everyone wants to play vs)
b) have an open spot
So if I play coop, it is a pub game and I get ticked and quit. Or I play a LOT of single player.

Yeah I'm not the biggest versus fan either. It's very fast paced and the survivors have to pretty much book it the entire time otherwise they just give the infected more time to take them down. I don't really see why its so popular in its current incarnation tbh.
1) Crescendo events mean nothing as the human controlled boss infected still make life hell for you the whole time so you can't plan.
2) There is much less time to wait around for people to come and get a pipebomb/molotov in a back room, along with healing and pills.
3) The game is much less forgiving than coop, especially for the average players. This could be intentional as to give players a more frantic hurried feeling.
Although I'll admit its FUN to play as infected especially with good teamwork. Nothing like belly flopping a boomer and top of the survivors then having you're team pounce down on them while they get flooded with zombies. I just don't think playing survivor against human controlled infected is that fun because they exploit your every weakness and slow moments.

Actually I think playing it slower makes it easier than running. I look at that from a infected point of view because if everyone is running its much easier to make something happen as compared to 4 dudes who just sit around and make their way across (given they each are skilled enough to not take damage from normal zombies). And since you move as a group, you can pick up items and check every room! Makes it harder for infected too (again depends on play style and skill level).

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Slowing down on a versus game is nice, the only real thing to keep in mind though is the amount of tanks you want to contend with. If you like to eat tanks for breakfast, then by all means slow it way down .

It helps if you play all of them once with the singleplayer and then play online.

Re: Anyone else love expert?
Thats the thing about versus I don't agree with a rushed group at all. We have played many rounds and have kept control at a fast pace not an all out panic rush.
But as long as the team can follow a leader I can go with whatever they want. It just kinda makes me mad when I see teamates getting left behind because the leader, Point rusher isnt keeping his team together. If you want the team to rush then everyone should be on agreement to follow what you want done. Remeber ecause someone is left behind isnt their fault a lone zombie slowed them down. Its yours for not looking out for him also.
And thats also why I like to have only TG versus. Much more mature game even if we do have some rushers.

As long as your team stick together, being point doesn't make a lot of difference. You should be crouched most of the time so people can shoot over your heads, melee if you get into trouble and let your teammates help you out.
If you can find good defendable positions, you can take your time going through a map even on expert. As long as you're working together and have good tactics and use melee appropriately, you shouldn't take much damage when the zombies attack. As point man, it is possible to get through a level with little damage (for instance, not taking a single point of damage half way through a level).
The only time expert becomes difficult is where you are caught out. This can be minimised with effective team work and keeping your wits about you. Zombies can only damage you if they hit you.
