Language
Look, I know that there's not a "TG server" right now, but when you're wearing TG tags and playing with other TG players, could you at least try to not violate TG rules?
I joined a versus game today and 90% of the comms from a certain player had the F-bomb in it.
I don't mind a few slips here and there when the action gets going, but if you are unable to communicate without using four letter words, you have a problem.
I like to spice up my language just as much as the next guy, but there's a time and a place for everything. TacticalGamer has higher standards than other places. We cater to mature gamers, but we're also family friendly. Let's try to keep it so that people do not have to be ashamed of TG voicecomms, please.Become a supporting member!

Re: Language
Remember you're representing TG whenever you play on a pubbie server with the tag on. We want to continue being held in high regard within the gaming community at large.

Re: Language
Did you politely ask the player to stop? Did you make the player aware that you were offended by his language?
Threads like this just invite complaining and community discontent. I'd have hoped we already learned that lesson by now. For the sake of everyone spare us threads like this.
On the topic however, let me go ahead an point out that a lot of people (like myself) don't mind cursing. If you're in a game with me, feel free to talk dirty
my girlfriend might like it. Now that we've established that there is a wide range of language tolerance, why don't we handle this in the logical way...on a case by case basis.

Re: Language
Wow. Maybe you should re-read what TG is about. I dont think cing is off at all on this topic. Does swearing help you game better? Sure i swear as much as the next guy but it takes 2 seconds to release the Voip key and say the words then go back to your ocnverstaion.
If your going to play and know you Have to wear ....remove your tag.that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: Language
how about this lets see if someone can actually produce a rule that says a TG tagged member can not curse.
I'll would be perfectly fine with not cursing in game if asked, but unless you give me fair warning as a mature person to a mature person then I say its fair game. I will not do anything that I think is disrespectful but words are words, if you have a problem speak up and we can deal with it, but with the nature of the game (very personal) its hard to make broad statements.
as for Mr. Minority I have a few words for you but am choosing to to hold back because I feel they could offend more people than just minorty.Reapator, overlord of ponies

Re: Language
Im sure of all people cing did say something. But a member shouldnt have to remind TG wearing members how to represent this community. I dont think its silly at all. Just a friendly reminder of what wearing the TG tag represents. Does swearing help your team at all?
And i wouldn't want my child playing on a server where members are supposed to act mature but swear like sailorsthat sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: Language
I have no F'ing problem with curses used as excla-F'ing-mations...
"OH F!" or "HOLY SHIZZLE!" a few times an hour doesn't F'ing bug me....
However, it gets really F'ing old when every F'ing thing from someones F'ing mouth is preceded by an F'ing F-bomb adjective.... It's totally un-F'ing-neccessary.

Re: Language
I said it was ineffective. This is the rough equivalent of me saying, "TG community, please act like someone I like." This sentiment is in practice, worthless.
Like I said before, these threads attract a lot of complaining and philosophical debates on what TG is about that typically end up getting locked...like the last one.Shhhh I'm being made

Re: Language
I'm going to assume that this was simply meant to be sarcastic or in jest. Because certainly you couldn't be serious. If you check the "Where did you come from?" thread 43 of the 82 people who have checked in came from one of the Battlefield games. That is slightly over half... so keep in mind who you are insulting before you speak so harshly.
Also... your comments may carry a little more weight if you yourself were a supporting member that had been here slightly longer than just a month. That is an awfully strong opinion to have formed after just being here a month and not getting to know the community or the people in it.Last edited by Aruncado; 12-08-2008 at 10:56 PM.
