Re: Left 4 Dead Feature on Zero Punctuation
He's right though, I wish each chapter unlocked a cutscene giving them continuity or at least some semblance of a plot line. Why is this infection here, etc. All we know is there's four survivors and zombies, no plot line at all.
I could forgive the continuity of each chapter if each one still gave a cutscene opening a little more background on the infection and the characters themselves.

Yeah but he says that the four survivors are the only survivors and this is not the case.
And if he said that it's a movie he forgot that part when he went on about realism.

There was sort of a cutscene between campaigns if you go through the dev commentary. Between No Mercy and Death Toll there was a clip showing the helicopter crashing because the pilot got infected. It was taken out because nobody cared to watch it for the billionth time and it was a bit of a buzzkill to the accomplishment of escaping.

Repeated cutscenes are awful. It would need a bypass key.
Edit: Unless Zoey is naked in them of course.

That's awesome, the pilot looks infected when you get on the chopper in No Mercy. I always thought it was just because they were too lazy to model a pilot. I need to watch the commentary.

The guy brings up some valid points, but often he just tries to nitpick. He's funny, though.

Re: Left 4 Dead Feature on Zero Punctuation
Other games have it with a vote to skip. Of course if one goes AFK then... :P
But then again you could get up, go to the bathroom, make a sandwich, play solitaire, etc. :P

It might be a sync issue with the way the engine is designed that individual players can't skip the movies. They seem to have made the intro movies very short that makes voting unnecessary. I also wouldn't want to vote every time the movie came up.

Granted, that's why it'd make sense to unlock them for your viewing pleasure at your leisure.

In hindsight, that could have been done. I think Valve went with the in-game cutscene and realized it's annoying to watch every time. Then it didn't occur to them to make it a cutscene in a video library or maybe it wasn't worth doing. It's a zombie game and it really doesn't need that much story. They focused on making a co-op game and stories in co-op aren't really worthwhile (it was hard enough back in the day to get people to read briefings when playing GR).

Re: Left 4 Dead Feature on Zero Punctuation
This is Valve though so they could potentially add it in the future. Their next chapter could include a new cinematic advancing the story line.
I'm only afraid that given the time line for the intro, that another one just might take too long.
