Re: Infected, which is the best?
I love pouncing off the roofs onto someone coming out of a building. WHAM!
Without darkness, how could we measure the light?

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Smoker is one of the classes that it is easy to make multiple hits. But the boomer functions better alone then the other classes because of it's ability to hit all survivors at once.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I think the boomer and the smoker make a great team if the boomer cant get to the survivors without getting hit the smoker can drag a survivor to the boomer and he cant vomit on him this will bring the rest of the survivors back to help him and the boomer can get the rest of them.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Interesting results so far. I can honestly say that I didn't think the smoker would be this close to the others, and certainly not tied ahead of the tank.
I'm not surprised to see the boomer up there, but I did expect the hunter to be leaps and bounds ahead of the rest...

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I finally started liking the hunter.
1) figured out the whole, the initial damage depends on high far you drop/height. Did 30 on the initial round of no mercy by jumping down from rooftop.
2) figured out 10 damage per normal attack can add up. If you're in a building and they are together, you can step out and sometimes get 1-2 hits on them. If a rush is on, sometimes you can get more, where a pounce might draw more attention and get you killed quicker. On the 3rd leg of No Mercy, I was doing a lot of damage. In one set, did 70 in 7 hits to STUNTGURU! Did 30 a lot. I was doing a lot more damage then I would have with a pounce and instant death. pounce while inside the building usually does what, 5?
Smoker, Just don't like them. They are good for pulling people apart but it takes a while to get them close enough to do damage (usually), they are easily killed and their hand to hand does 2 damage.
Boomer - he seems to be the main attack engine. His job is to shake up the survivors, get a mob in there and allow the others to do their work. I just wish that a) his puke was faster to shoot off, it takes a long while from the pushing of the mouse button to the actual puke and b) that if I puke, it would FALL ON YOU instead of disappearing after a few feet in the air. Granted, this might make him too powerful - be on roof invulnarable and puke over edge, dropping it down."Sympathy means a lot, coming from Kulmar. I didn't think it was possible.
Good luck getting rid of your disease. If you're infected, though, stay away--I can't afford to be a zombie right now.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I think each infected has both attack and support capabilities which makes them all compatible by themselves or with any combination of other infected. So the boomer can be more of a support than attack initator, or the smoker can help a hunter and vice versa. Same with Tanks and even witches.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Im least effective as smoker. They always move out of the way when I have red circle and have awesome spot to pull someone off.
Could use some training with the hunter pounces with 25 damage but it's all good.
I think Im pretty good as Boomer too. The effective boomer spawns quickly just before the survivors enter the room and boom them before they hear him and get his location.
Im pretty good as Tank. I have had my good times and bad times - depending how the survivors have planned to kill me. If they have no plan or if it's bad plan I get them down or couple of them down. It also depends from my team, if they listen to me and hold their spawns and pounce and drag them. Occasionally I accidently kill off my teammates because the tank attacks are so slow.|TG| Kebab-Kastike reporting for duty. | Why? Tubes! The internet is tubes!

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Even though I spoke about a lot of the bad aspects of the smoker, he was my personal choice. Using the smoker at peak effectiveness requires the patience to not just attack because you have an opportunity to, but to attack when and where you will be most effective. There are a few real good places to use a smoker on each map where you can stop the survivors advance cold even if you attack alone, you have to make sure when the survivors approach those "smoker havens" you are alive and ready for them. A few smoker tips...
1) Don't be afraid to stay in spawn mode for a little and follow the survivors. The smoker gives audio and visual cues to his position and sometimes you are best suited to wait a bit to spawn.
2) Identify the key locations for a smoker to have the maximum effect and prepare them for your dirty work. It's worth your time on map 04 no mercy to destroy some doors ahead of the survivors advance and destroy the railing on the 3rd floor so you can pull suvivors down and make them backtrack. On blood harvest map 01 pull a survivor off the hill and make them hang on to the edge of the chasm when they approach the rope bridge.
3) Don't be afraid to be a distraction to allow the other special infected to be more effective. Sometimes your job is to die so the other infected can do more damage. It's a team game, don't be afraid to take one for the team if that's the best thing in a particular situation.
4) Sometimes it's better to run away and go into spawn mode again then it is to make a worthless attack. You can also effectively trick the survivors with them thinking the smoker is behind them and then magically "re-appear" in front of them to drag one from a position they didn't think you could be at from where they "knew" you were.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
If you get to far away from the survivors, you get a message across the middle of your screen. "You are to far away from the survivors" then the game tells you to hit your use key to move to them. When that happens you go back into spawn mode and can choose when and where to spawn again. It also starts you back off at full health when you spawn which is another added bonus but really in the grand scheme doesn't mean much.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
The thing a lot of people ignore about the smoker is the smoke he produces when he dies, it can really disguise a horde and even a boomer. The smoker is some cases is more useful dying than attacking.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I like the smoker actually, it's the only ranged infected and if played right you can incapacitate someone within seconds. I will say he is a bit underpowered though.
I will say Boomer is the best, because a boomer is the only one that even in death can do some good. Most people stick to barfing but I'll get up right in their face and right click to do damage. Most people won't think twice about shooting some one they just got hurt from.
Hunter is overrated in my opinion, everyone is a hunter. It's hard to pin someone and stay on them, to me it's just not as satisfying, especially since you can't just tap Ctrl and go into crouch mode, you have to hold it down. Also I'd like the ability to cling to walls. Wall jumping is just something for the pros. I've only had minimal success with.
