Re: Infected, which is the best?
Only problem is you respawn with full health. I don't like that. Every bullet counts when your trying to kill infected. How do we feel about this. Is it a exploit?

No.
This isn't like bunnyhopping, where a flaw in the game engine is used to achieve some overwhelming benefit; this is very intentionally the way that the game was designed.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
The distance you have to be in order to move back to the survivors is pretty large as in some maps I can run to the farthest corner and it won't give me the option to move to them. The infected typically will have stayed away for about 30 seconds (respawn time) so getting full health back isn't something that concerns me.

I don't see a very high potential for abuse...

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Yeah, the range on it is pretty obscene. Unless you're a hunter you'd waste an entire spawn cycle getting far enough back. It's really useful for when you're at the bottom of the elevator shaft in NM04, which is the reason it's there in the first place. You can also use it in spawn mode at any time, it'll push you back to the survivors.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Yes, a 25 damage pounce is nice, yes, a 40 damage swipe is nice. But when you attack with a partner you will almost always do more damage. For the love of god, comrades, find a buddy in every game and wait the few seconds to spawn and attack together. As both survivors and as infected, working in two's or four's is best way to win. Abolish one's and three's! Do suicide runs with a partner!

I don't think it's that bad. Considering you're that far back anyways and the survivors didn't kill you yet. To me it's like dying then respawning, which happens quite often in versus mode (a little too much to my liking).
Maybe Valve will step in if they see this abused, I've never even seen it happen on normal server play. Valve may add on a little timer (not a full spawn timer) as a little deterrent.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I only say that because I was a boomer and got hit to like 18 and respawned with full health. I think I was able to bury the surviviors like 3 times. Just felt cheap is all. If majority rules I Will feel better. But I was able to get to Surviviors fast.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
I am relatively new to the game and I'm average with all of them. (Haven't played the Tank yet)

Re: Infected, which is the best?
There's something special about barfing on someone.
But on a more serious note, the tank on normal doesn't have the usual stopping power. It's best to use the tank to scatter the surviors, then have smokers, hunters, and boomers decend.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Am I the only one that thinks tank needs a buff?
Just tonight I got to be the tank on the finale of Blood Harvest. The survivors were in the house hugging the ammo stash. I crept around the corner (imagine the hulk prancing on his toes) turn the corner to smash them all to oblivion. As I'm raising my arm, I'm met with 4 auto shotties. My health goes down to below half before I've even swung my arm. Needless to say I got two hits in and died. It was the most pathetic thing ever.

That has been my usual experience with the tank...

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Tank is still part of the infected you have to work together to be more effective. And don't always just charge in. As long as you have the survivors in sight your golden. We have had fights last over 5 minutes easy with tank still in tact.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Tank = rock throw and punchable objects when possible.
Staying at stand-off range is ideal, as it limits the amount of damage you take from auto-shotguns and keeps you out of range of any propane/fuel/oxygen tank traps, as well as providing extra time for other infected to spawn in. This is all situational, of course; sometimes you have to punch people off stuff, or block the survivors if they can just dash for the safe house.
Ironically enough, I will retreat as far as possible if survivors advance on me, especially with molotovs or auto-shotguns, then resume rock throwing.

Re: Infected, which is the best?
Smoker is by far my favorite. He's not as immediate as the others, sure, but I find it takes a special kind of patience and cunning to play, much like a sniper or support class in other FPS.
Basically, you are there to pick off people who make mistakes and punish them for it. The guy who hesitates slightly on the window ledge whilst his team are already on the street below. The straggler who is 10 meters from the rest of his team when they all get boomed. These are your targets of opportunity. Nothing better so far in game than getting 2 or 3 kills on a single life as the smoker. Only problem is some of the levels are better suited than others.
