L4D VS set for Advanced
Ok I figured out how to set server up for VS on advanced. Some fellow TG members played it last night, I think it was the best. I would like to know how everyone who played advanced thought of it.
I think that when playing VS on advanced it forces more team effort. If you run off you can die much quicker when a hunter attacks you.
It also demands more communication. Since there are more zombies and the enemy is much stronger you need to stay very close.
Anyways anyone have some thought on this?

Any chance you can set the item spawn rate to expert but the damage/health rates to advanced?
I honestly don't think there should be any extra medkits at all in versus; one medkit erases all the infected progress on beating someone down. Pills just slow down the progress.

Re: L4D VS set for Advanced
I played on it last night. I liked it good balance still very possible to finish but it was quiet difficult. I also like the way the tank did damage too
. As far as I could see no out of the ordinary bugs (just clipped/un-meleeable zombies).
Very nice work I hope this could be introduced on the TG servers (hint hint
). Out of interest did sv_cheats have to be turned on?

Re: L4D VS set for Advanced
I have to be honset the game is changing again. Hunters arnt at their worst when pouncing. If you let our team hit you on advanced you wont make it. Neither will we. The slashing damage of the hunter is the hunters worst weapon in my opinion. The pounce is the finish.
In the begining of this I would say play this on expert versus. But now that we are learning more and more. If you go up agaisnt a real team your not making it to the safehouse.
Now if you want to speed the maps up well playing on advanced has a differant purpose. I like the 2 hour play though.FUN FUN

Re: L4D VS set for Advanced
Agreed, my only problem with normal mode for vs. is all the damned medpacks the survivors can find, it kinda removes the ability of the infect to use attrition against the survivors. We had a scrim on no mercy a few nights back. I did not spawn as the tank or the boomer the entire map on no mercy 03 and I did not kill a single survivor. I had 4 incaps of survivors, and did 1144 DAMAGE. It looked to us as that survivors found 8 medpacks along the course of the map. That's 640 bonus permenant health bonus to them and means unless you get the lucky spawn of 3 hunters and a smoker (which we never did mind you)to have a chance to finish all 4 at once you are going to have to do enough damage to each survivor to incap him/her 3 times! Thankfully we got our first tank of the level as they were exiting the sewers and he promptly played the role of a valet and parked a car on them. Replace the medpacks with pills and we're set.
The pletoria of medpacks the game sometimes gives the survivors means as infected you have to sit around and wait for that lucky 3 hunter 1 smoker spawn and it marginalizes everything else you can do without that lucky spawn or the tank. Imagine playing no mercy on normal where other then the starting 4 medpacks, map 01 had zero extra medpacks, map 02 had 1, map 03 had 2, map 04 had 1, and map 5 had zero. You could actually wear them down and kill them.

SV_Cheats does not need to be enabled for Adv VS.
