Invite Friends? No Friends list?

Hey Folks.. When you click on Invite Friends, where does a list come up for you to select? I am seeing nothing when I click... I also see nothing when you go to a player and hit the drop down to check STEAM ID or Message etc.. I am running at 1600 x 1024 ..is there stuff I am missing off of the screen?

I also don't get steam messages in game..it minimizes me.. Which is UBER CRAPPY!!

It only works if you have Steam Overlay enabled. Invite friends does not work in game. It only uses Steam Overlay. I'm guessing you're having an issue with Steam Overlay since you're also not able to see messages. Is it just L4D? Or are other steam games affected as well?

Make sure your firewall isn't blocking it. That's a common problem. Double check to make sure it's enabled as well as if you've disabled it in the past for previous games it might affect L4D.

Anyways hope that helps, that's all I can think of.

Click view<>friends<>player<>recent games and you can add any of those people.

Ok..I'm sure the STEAM overlay is the cause..since I have never heard of it.. And I don't have any friends in other steam games..so I can't test it... Where can I install it or activate it?

steam tray icon > settings > in-game > check off "Enable Steam Community In-Game"

If it's still bound to shift+tab you press those keys together to open it and can then click the friends button, click on a friend, and invite them.
