Server Feedback

This thread is an open slate for server-related comments/suggestions/ideas/whatever.

Are our servers filling?

Do we need more coop servers?

Are people having problems connecting?

How is your ping to the TG servers?

Saw two crashes.

First Crash:

No mercy campaign, Subway level. Crashed right after we finished.

Server was: TG Versus #1

Second crash:

Server was: TG Coop #1

L4D - Versus - Normal
Map: l4d_vs_hospital03_sewers
Players: 8 (0 bots) / 4 humans
Build: 3679
Server Number: 23

Crashed while a round was going on.

Basically everyone got the "auto retry 25 seconds" then went d/c to menu.

wait, were you playing versus on the coop server? if so, it's not configured correctly please let me know!

I thought these servers were set to take the lobby settings and convert the server into those settings?

Also after that second crash we couldnt rejoin through lobby. I used the search key command in my launch and it seemed to worked early before the crash. So everytime I try to go dedicated I couldnt join the TG server from lobby. Nothing happened it kicked me to local.

The servers are offline for maintenance for the afternoon - sorry to the euro folks. I'll post again when they're back up!

Here is a new issue:

After we finished a full versus on No Mercy, on VS #2 I think, normal difficulty:

Instead of going ot the lobby after showing the final score, it restarted the NM5 map, with the opposite team playing survivors for the second time, except two of them started as dead. On the infected side, we started as if the finale was already going, so zombies were running for the saferoom and we spawned in automatically.

After the survivors died, it tallied up the scores again, and the scores were switched for the teams (in addition to the extra points with 2 people trying to play it over again).

Then it looked as if the infected team was going to play as survivors again (as if NM5 map was restarted), but then it went to lobby (we actually spawned as survivors as the loading screen faded).

Wierd. This server didnt have the INFhud plugin.

But that other game with the INFhud plugin spawned a AI tank that we never took control of. That was on the advanced server.

The Advanced versus server has crashed 2 nights in a row, both were during a round change.

4v4, both were no mercy (80% sure), might have been changing teams on NM2

Indeed - the bad news is that valve is still working out some kinks in the servers it appears. The good news is that valve is working out some of the kinks in the servers.

a few mins ago i was on TacticalGamer.com - VS Adv#2
2 players on
3rd player wants to join
in the L4D menus friend list the server is down as not joinable
we were mid way through the map
we asked if they can join on console / select friend / join game (I have found that works where l4d friends menu can fail) however they disappeared or joined another game and did not answer

the point of this post is the in game menu may not be compatible with our server settings, needs a little testing

TG Adv Server #1 and #2.

First joining either would kick us back to the lobby. It looked like both servers were finished with the finale (on map 5). Then they magically rebooted for some reason. After this we tried joining to Server #1 directly. Though it was set to versus 0/8, only 4 of us could get in before it was full. Then we moved ot #2, but only 7/8 slots could be filled because the 8th was "full". The entire time the search key was not working.
