Discussion: Action / Left 4 Dead - Vs on the other 2 campaigns... - Anyone have the details on how to set that up? I've played vs's on dead

    Vs on the other 2 campaigns...

    Anyone have the details on how to set that up?

    I've played vs's on dead air and it was fun, but I don't know how it was done, i just accepted an invite. Can someone dig up the details so we can run it too?

    I'm not sure, but I think most of the reason is that crawling prompts and rooftoops not vital for co-op might not be there.

    Message me in Steam if you are interested in playing Dead Air / Death Toll VS. I can also give anyone a hand if you have trouble extracting the maps correctly or uploading the files to a server.

    Have they edited the maps?

    I mean, they CAN take four healthkits at the end of the level, unless they are edited out.

    I haven't noticed any extra med packs at the end of the level in my play time.

    the finally is messed up because it rolls through the credits at the end and doesn't let both teams play survivors. The only other semi-issue is that there a very few climbing points and the ones that are there are not marked, other wise its great fun.

    The maps weren't edited at all for vs. mode. There are lots of missing textures and locations..

    I honestly thought dead air sucked for vs. mode as a straight conversion of the co-op maps. Death toll was a little better, but it was no picnic either. Dead air has like 6 or 7 climbing spots on the entire campaign and while death toll is better in that reguard, it's not where it needs to be.

    You can resolve the texture issue by lowering Shaders to Medium. Virtually all the drainage pipes can be climbed on both campaigns.

    I was actually talking about the building roof's that the survivors otherwise wouldn't see. Most of those have no textures and it makes life miserable to judge where exactly the edge of the roof is. I know about the drain pipes, but on dead air there actually aren't to many climbing area's period, although one of them you climb up so high you are out of range for the smoker to use his tongue, yay!

    All I'm saying is I understand why the game wasn't shipped with those maps available for vs. mode.

    I'm sure if they intended for these maps to be official vs maps that they would have polished it more for vs play.

    In regards to climbing spots -- I know what you mean by the rooftops with no roofs or edges, but it seemed whenever I ran into those areas that as a Hunter I could wall jump to even better positions or wall jump off something else and onto the survivors. I don't think that the areas in question are good positions anyway for any other class and typically there are other alternatives than the roof for the other classes.

    On the servers I've found for versus on the locked campaigns, there is a 4/8 player limit and alltalk is locked on. Can anyone confirm/deny that this is due to the maps being played on campaign maps?

    The 4/8 Player limit is a game-wide bug for vs. AllTalk is a server configuration setting.

    I hope someone decides to put up a modded server. 60-100 shambler-style zombies, Death Toll versus, HLStatsx, damage tracking display, advanced difficulty, sprinting... Ah well, it's not my place to complain when I'm not willing to buy a server myself.

    Here's two campaign map versus servers I've found, I believe both are on advanced difficulty as well:

    I have a TG-303rd L4D server I have setup and set like 2-3 servers for VS on Advanced only.

    I have hosted many VS games on Dead Air and think its a blast and sucks with nooblets... But the one down fall is that noone can join after we start VS on a non VS map.

    And I do not use custom maps. Your able to play Dead Air VS with your normal co-op map. I think that's the reason noone can join because the normal map is a 4 player map.

    Also there are places to climb and there not marked. Most all pipes you can climb. And as a hunter you can wall pounce to some really cool spots.
