Re: L4D wish list
BUT! The infected know exactly when their tank is going to come aswell! We were the first humans and when we knew when our tank was going to come we made sure every infected boss we had were there to fight. Last night was one of the most balanced Versus games I've had ever. Both of the teams were neck and neck.

Re: L4D wish list
IMHO, I'd rather have the tank/witch/weapons be more or less random. Sometimes you get screwed, but it's a bit lame to be able to plan your map strategy around knowing where things will appear. And with this being a semi-cinematic zombie game, random unfairness only adds to the experience. "Unfair" is better than predictable.

Re: L4D wish list
I agree with Iamthefallen, identical mob spawns is ridiculous because the second team ends up at a huge advantage.
Also, I hate 90% of those weapons ideas most of those sounded like "xxx weapon is too weak, stick a rocket launcher on it!" I do agree with balancing them more for VS. though, and THEN working on adding some more balanced weapons.
Smoker initial burst damage would be awesome even if it was only 3-5 points, same for the smoke disabling melee, I always feel like something should be happening to the survivors as they're walking through it.
Disagree with removal of reload + melee, maybe lengthen the amount of time reloads take while meleeing, but not a complete removal. Same for medkit, partial heals makes 0 sense, then you would have people simply holding it down for a moment and moving on, and it removes a lot of strategy for the infected trying to prevent someone from healing.
That was my 2 cents on what was being tossed around, for myself I would like it if Boomers got a bit of an upgrade. It seems that a good team can get away from a 3 or 4 person vomit and not take a single point of damage. I would like it if Boomer vomit did 2 to 4 points of damage to those vomitted upon and/or a boomer explosion doing 2 to 4 points of damage. Would also be nice if you weren't allowed to melee the smoker grab while blinded from the boomer for the first few seconds, just enough to pull a survivor a couple of feet.

Re: L4D wish list
I have been playing left4dead for awhile now I love it however I'm a little disappointed in the choice to have a M-16 for a assault rifle because it may have been good for it,s time but these days no one in their right mind would feel this is a very good weapon and would grab a AK-47 instead just to save their life so my thought was this how about the Grendel assault rifle which looks very similar to the M-16 but has the power of the AK-47 yet the range and accuracy of the M-4 or M-16 and if this is too advanced of a assault rifle for this game giving the fact the point is to get ahold of everyday weapons then go with the AK-74 which is a version of the AK-47 that has a little more range and accuracy and looks the same as the AK-47 or if that,s too good for the game then just go with the AK-47 then instead, I say this because I find myself using other guns in the game and that M-16 acts just as crappy in the game as the real one I'm sorry I know the M-16 looks sexy to most people but still come on were fighting a war against super strong creatures at times and I can,t even melee the tank on advanced or expert, and my other thought was if we get a good assault rifle like this we could always have more challenges thrown into the game or more bosses at times to help even out the game so were not making things easyer.

Re: L4D wish list
This is true, but "balanced" is better then "unfair".
I wasn't a big fan of the new method either at first, but once you think about it it's pretty fair. Both teams have an advantage the second time through a map, not only do the survivors know when the tank is coming, but the infected do as well. No excuse for an infected team member to be dead when the survivors approach the tank trigger.

Re: L4D wish list
I like the boomer idea, but maybe less of it doing damage, and more along the lines of effects. So since the boomers' explosion can already knock players back, separating and stunning them, how about making boomer spit slow down the survivors (like to 39hp speed) so they cant sprint around? Anyways, just a thought for this thread.
As for the AK47 wish, you can always give yourself a custom model so you feel like you are picking up an AK instead of a M14. The problem is that the kick and game mechanics wont change, primarily because its the gun is already damn good in the hands of a marksman.

Re: L4D wish list
Good lord, that is a long sentence! But I like the idea of finding different skins of guns rather than the same old M16 over and over again. The uzi could change to an MP5. (I like the MP5
)
The caustic boomer vomit is a good idea. Makes sense and reinforces the idea to avoid it.
Everything in Left 4 Dead should be random, (except the map) I think that's how the developers intended it to be.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else to change. Melee while reloading should slow both the melee and reload down, but then I'm just nit-picking.Last edited by Mech__Warrior; 01-26-2009 at 12:36 AM. Reason: Got the smiley

Re: L4D wish list
Since this is a wish list...
I wish we could have tanks/witches/items/weapons spawn in roughly the same part of the map rather than being entirely predictable.
Being the same for balance is great, but it changes the strategy. Some of the best times in L4D is when you get ridiculously owned by a convergence of attacks just as you were about to execute your brilliant plan of great success.
I also wish teams would take turns going first.|TG-12th| fallen

I wish the tank did AOE punches instead of single target attacks. If a tank can punch logs and cars +50 feet he can hit more than one frail person.

Re: L4D wish list
What I would like to see is a versus mode with 8 survivors. It would feel different to be part of a larger group with more people to worry about. That coupled with more weapon choices, bigger and more open maps and at least twice the normal amount of infected would make a sweet cocktail.
But awesome as that sounds (at least to me) that would be a completely different game. Heh, maybe the next step after that would look like Battlefield, squad system and everything :P
Also, that post about the lawnmower or flamethrower gave me an idea for an epic anti-zombie weapon. Are you ready for this? A Flamemower! Yes, a flamethrower with a giant spinning blade on it, how cool is that?
On second thought a much more devastating weapon would be the lawnthrower."Video games develop hand-eye coordination, and make kids into better human beings!" - Prof. Membrane

Re: L4D wish list
I think if the tank punches the ground. It should do some damage to all around it. And if it wings and 2 are in the way, should punch them both. Forces them to spepareate. Kinda like the melee mechanics. So make them survivors the zombies and the tank the guy in the corner with a shotgun meleeing for his life lol. Also, i would like to see a teamwork obstacle in each map, where it takes maybe to people to do it. Like an elevator or lifting someone up. It stops one man rushes. But punishes if you let your team die.

Re: L4D wish list
Variety, here is to name a few...
Firearm weapon variety types more of... though the current selection really covers the main bases. I think in the levels where we see a lot of Zombie military, we should see some Military grade weapons.
-Flamethrower
-Pistols (Larger Cal such as 44 mag)
-M249
Melee weapons...
-Chainsaw
-Sword
-Axe
Add in some more pill types...
-Speed Boost
-Defense Boost
-Melee Boost
Skins for goodness sakes. Each bad guy needs a bunch more skins, especially the hunters, boomers, etc.
Speaking of bad guys, would be nice to see more skills for the current crop as well as some new types.
Not saying there is anything wrong with the game without these changes but these are some of the ones I believe I would enjoy.Battlefield Samurai 'Banzaaaiii!!!
