Re: L4D wish list
I don't understand why melee weapons would have to replace an existing weapons slot.
But setting aside that technical question, what's so bad about melee weapons causing FF? It means you can't just hide in the corner and have everyone meleeing. Or if you think this is too great of a problem, then make melee weapon FF off, just like melee doesn't cause FF now.
Moreover, people could run around just meleeing now. It would be no different with the bat. Indeed, I'm imagining that melee with a bat would work exactly like melee works now.
The only real problem you mention with the idea of melee weapons is this technical problem with melee weapons having to take up a weapons slot. I don't know if this is a real limitation of the engine or not, or if there isn't a work around. The other problems you mention aren't real problems unless they are already problems with the way melee currently works.

Re: L4D wish list
Dear God, you people are whiny...
Why are you all complaining about the game being unfair & unbalanced?
Is that not the point of the game?
Its supposed to be not knowing whats coming round the next corner etc.
When I read the first previews of L4D, the whole prospect of the Director firing enemys at you when you least expected it was the only reason I wanted to get the game
So what, one team gets hit by a tank and the other doesn't... Is the other team not crapping themselves waiting for something along the same lines to jump out at them?
Anyway, I just wish for a slightly bigger arsenal of weapons, maybe another assault rifle of two & a different type of shotgun
Also, how about bayonets for weapons to replace melee attacks or some other type of blade or spike attached to it (If any of you have played Halo 3, something like a the Brute Shot or a Spiker)

I wish music was disabled for everyone in Expert mode, or at least didn't give the warning that an attack is coming.

Re: L4D wish list
They dont *have* to, but I would be shocked if they gave a new weapons slot and didnt force one to replace a current weapons slot.
You misunderstand me, I dont think melee FF is a bad thing, just that valve does their games for a main stream audience and overall people would hate no FF with melee weapons as infected, and love it as survivors. As for the current game, melee actually causes no damage from the survivors. Melee currently has a "hits within a certain timeframe until death" number and that's that. Go on a server and have a hunter come up to you and melee him 3 times, then let him get away. He will be at full health. But setting aside that technical question, what's so bad about melee weapons causing FF? It means you can't just hide in the corner and have everyone meleeing. Or if you think this is too great of a problem, then make melee weapon FF off, just like melee doesn't cause FF now.
They just recently stopped people's ability to simply run around meleeingMoreover, people could run around just meleeing now. It would be no different with the bat. Indeed, I'm imagining that melee with a bat would work exactly like melee works now.
The engine has I think 50 weapons slots, so the number of slots isn't really a technicial issue, it's more of a balance issue in my eyes. The only real problem you mention with the idea of melee weapons is this technical problem with melee weapons having to take up a weapons slot. I don't know if this is a real limitation of the engine or not, or if there isn't a work around. Re: L4D wish list
Yes, but it would require a plug-in that disabled all help entities. When you click on the lift and you get the message that say's something like "prepare for the horde" or whatever that's simply an entity the map's creator places for players who keep the tips mode enabled.

I wish for smarter AI. Zoey healed me in front of a witch today and got incaped. I had my pipebomb equipped and sort of paniced, killing her. Then I proceeded to take out my frustration on Bill and Louis because they were computers too and, well, I had a bad night of playing.
