The Hospital Elevator portion of the 'No Mercy' campaign has been revealed as one of the survival mode areas.

The mode adds a 'lull' variable which is simply a brief period of time where nothing new will spawn, the 'lull' will not be highlighted by any signal, it will just happen and the survivors will have to react in time.

It is much more complex than a typical survival mode that simply increases the volume of spawns as the players survive longer. Rather each form of infected (Horde, Specials, Tank) have individually set spawn times that adjust separately from each other, so for instance in the first couple of minutes the nearly impossible combo of three hunters and a tank could appear at the same time; likewise, several minutes in things could seem easier than when the round opened.

Ammo piles have been moved to less defensible positions on the maps. Which means making an ammo run is "rarely a safe proposition and requires good teamwork and planning."

That chart is nuts. I hope they put in some good defensive positions with MG's that are actually effective.

I give it 3 days until somebody finds a "spot" which will allow them to play as long as they like...

I had no idea this was coming so quickly until I read about it on Kotaku - I've been playing Dawn of War 2 mostly (with a smattering of L4D), looks like I'm going to have to fire it up more often once this hits.

That's...absurd. I fully expect to spend a lot of my time laughing as I watch someone vainly try and run from three tanks at once. Can't wait.

From what I've seen on my own map when I spawn tanks, they tend to hit eachother and kill eachother off with friendly fire, so it shouldn't be that bad. As long as you can run away from them, that is.

Anyway, what is this all I hear about new weapons coming with the patch. I haven't seen any news of that but I hear people talking about them. Lies or truths?

At 14 min it will spawn 4 tanks in 14 secs....

does this mean we will have 4 tanks on screen or will it stack up tank spawns and insta spawn a tank when the other is killed

If I read the article correctly, if you don't kill the tanks in time, you'll have one new tank to worry about. Four tanks on screen at one time, yes, it is possible.
Valve's record for surviving was 9,5 mins if I recall right. I doubt anyone will survive to 14min mark.
