The 'boycott man', Walking_Target, and Agent of Chaos were taking a tour at the Valve studio where they learned about some of the things occurring and being planned in regards to L4D1/2. Note: They were not asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, so they were allowed to post and talk about these things to the community.

Some quick tidbits of the post:

We talked about the problems with some of the L4D weapons and things like stacking/camping. It was mentioned that there ‘should be fixes for that’ coming in the near future. The one thing we can take from all that is that they are still working on bug fixes and they will come, just probably not before L4D2 drops. I’m pretty sure Chet had also mentioned something about how some of the L4D2 fixes could be incorporated into L4D, however I’m not sure if that was in relation to a wide variety of things or problems with the Hunting Rifle / Sniper Rifle which was something we were talking about at the time.
There is more DLC for Left 4 Dead coming after CrashCourse. We were given a rough idea of what it should be, however we were asked not to talk too much about it so it didn’t “influence the creative process”. I can tell you this: it’ll either be a new Special Infected, a new Campaign or new Weapon(s). It’s definitely one of the three, perhaps more. This is pretty much the only thing that we were asked not to talk about (remember, *asked* we didn’t sign anything)

Good to see that they still plan to bring DLC to L4D1, and still, of course, support for patches.

I can tell you guys this though; Chet and the rest of the L4D team are still excited about the original four survivors and working the stories of L4D and L4D2 together. To that end, Gabe told us that they’re working on a project that will bridge the stories of L4D and L4D2 and that it will be available through steam (I believe the word ‘free’ was tossed in there too, just don’t quote me on it). It was also hinted at that they were doing something for the Mod community; Agent of Chaos heard more about that though.
What’s hard to convey here is how open and honest the staff were. There’s no feeling that they’re trying to hide anything from you and often you hear “oh wait, can we talk about that?” after something slips out. Some of you will say “of course, they want you to feel like that, it’s a trap!” but it does not come across like that. They really do seem to want to work on both games in tandem.

Also good to see that the team is looking to continue work on both games simultaneously. Could imply that some of the changes in L4D2 will come to L4D, and vice versa. I think we'd all be a bit happier if the new SI started being implemented into L4D.

At this point though, enough of calling myself and Agent ‘traitors’. It doesn’t matter what course of actions we could have taken, or how ‘assertive’ we were with Valve, you folks would not be pleased. If we refused the invitation, you would say we aren’t doing our jobs. Accepting an invitation got us called ‘Traitors’. Complaining and whining is not going to get you anywhere, because nothing we could possibly do would make you happy and I’m through trying.

Interesting to see that some of the boycott followers are going so far as to call them out as traitors for trying to get more information on the development of the game. I would have to guess that means a lot of the boycotters only want to hate what they don't know enough about!
