    L4D2 New game mode 'Scavenge'

Sounds exactly like the name, the survivors have to find gas cans to fill up a generator in a set amount of time and the infected have to stop them.

See more here and here for more details.

I forgot, opinions are only valid if they agree with the sheeple.

Btw, not that you care, but me and 3 other friends will be getting the 4 pack, since that is far closer to a fair price in our opinion for what they are delivering and the work it entailed. It doesnt negate any of the criticisms I have levied against the title and their lack of support for L$D1, it's just more of a statement that I'm bored and need something else to play and I don't like giving my money to gearbox who generally gives no support to their titles.

As far as the game mode goes, it sure sounds underwhelming, but then again I guess the sheeple thought survivor mode was the best thing since sliced bread, oh, wait, most people thought that sucked as well!

At the end of the day, valve cant patch the "stupid" out of the game most of it's customers bring to the table, so instead they have decided to cater to it. I guess it's a smart business decision, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

I'm sorry, but after watching you do this to every thread you poke into in the L4D section, I'm tired of being quiet about it.

No, opinions are valid regardless of what the sentiment is. However, seeing as you've been around here a while, it occurs to me that you SHOULD understand that usually in discussions like these that uttering a two word, and completely empty, opinion (if you can call "not really" an opinion) is going to get a negative response. If you really feel like your opinion needs to be expressed, do so, but in a manner befitting actual discussion.

Going with that last statement, I'll also remind you that most of us dont like being disregarded by underhanded insults. Now dont try and backpedal here, your opening statement of your last post made your intentions clear. Anyone who enjoys L4D, or might think that the new game mode would be interesting are "sheeple", that being directly aimed at the people in this thread so far.

I guess my point here, morganan, is that in every L4D thread I've seen you post in, its always negative, generally disparaging, and usually has some form of backhanded attempt at trolling people who have responded in an opinion opposite yours. Heres a suggestion: if you despise the game so much that you see most of the people playing it as the ones bringing stupidity to the table, and the fact that we are all conformist drones who are willing to midlessly buy whatever is tossed at us (ala "sheeple"), then perhaps you ought to go find a different game, perhaps one that doesnt grind your gears quite so badly. Maybe then every comment we saw from you wouldnt be derogatory and detrimental to a positive discussion.

I can't help this Ferris; Morganan, if you hate the game so much then why are you still playing it?

On Topic, Well this will be an interesting game mode.

I wish I could +rep you for this.

Also on topic, I do worry that the mode will turn out like Survival mode, which wore thin after you got all golds on the maps, but I'll reserve judgment until I play it.

Re: L4D2 New game mode 'Scavenge'

Well, if you only have 30 minutes time.. SCAVENGE ! The problem of course might be ragequits again in the middle of the rounds leaving the game crippled. But there is nothing bad about small minigames that wear themself out fast.

But there is a BIG difference here tho about Survival and Scavenge. Survival was the same on EVERY run. Smart players would know within minutes where the Infected climb points were. From then on it usually played out like an old Megaman Boss fight. You know the pattern and only recieve damage when you f it up. After you played every Survival for 3-4 times it became boring because you basically knew it all and it was more of a matter of enduring the first 10 minutes of Pistol grind than any real fun.

Scavenge will have humans as enemies - just like VS mode - every round will be the same as, well as it will be different. Different traps, different places to move, to looking for cans. I don´t say Scavenge will be the reinvention of the wheel but merely pointing out it has more potential to get you playing it after a while than survival had.

Re: L4D2 New game mode 'Scavenge'

Neat idea and all but not something I am really excited about. I would rather have seen a survivor mode similar to how COD Zombie does where you have to hold up in a location and build defenses against the horde. Yes they made a game mode already that does this but its just a quick nasty melee where you tend to get held up in some random spot to defend against tanks.

I would rather see something akin to classic horror zombie films like Night of the Living Dead where you are set up in some location that you got to defend like a house for example. Survivors run around the house making sure doors and windows are boarded up. At some point you need to venture out for supplies which would be random drops scattered around the map. Objective would be to make it through the night and keep the house clean. Allow users to set up defenses, move furniture, etc to help them win. Locations could be classics like the old farm house, a diner or gas station, church, etc. Thinking a more tactical and strategic game mode with just normal zombies... but loads of them.
